It was the first time in weeks since I’d had a sleep where nightmares didn’t rake my mind, tormenting me with mysterious illusions and false images that I could never perceive. I lay in my bed the soothing lullaby of the sea whirling around my ears. It was a nice sensation, waking up because I had made the choice to do so and not because the images from my mind were so horrible I had to wrench myself away. I was not drenched in sweat, the sheets flung off my body with repulsion, instead I was lying here calmly, the silk sheets wrapped delicately around my body.
“I trust this means that it worked”
I looked up quickly at the sound of Dale who had entered the room, I looked away just as quickly my cheeks flushing slightly. It was obvious that he had just showered, his skin glistening with the water on his body, droplets running rivers across his defined figure. I heard him chuckling but dared not look up.
“I apologise I did not think that you would be awake”
I heard him rustling around but still I continued to observe the midnight blue sheets.
“Well it is your chamber too” I murmured
I did not want to seem flustered and although by now it was too late I still hoped to salvage the situation. I did not know quite why I cared but all I knew was that I didn’t want to reveal my embarrassment
“And it is yours. I do not want to make you uncomfortable, although I must warn you that you will see many unclothed men during your time here”
I cleared my throat, playing with the silks.
“Well I am glad it is winter then”
Dale chuckled
“The seasons have no effect on whether we clothe ourselves or not, winter, summer, spring or autumn matters not”
I bit my lip, I had forgotten that those with wolves did not feel with seasons as my weak skin did. For them it was an eternal summer. I jumped as I felt a warm hand touch my own skin, I looked up to find that he was dressed and staring at me with an earnest smile.
“No nightmares?”
I shook my head, with a small smile of my own
“Did I not tell you that it would work?”
“You did”
He chuckled once more and pulled on my arm slowly coercing out from my warm domain, I looked at him with a frown but he only pulled me with more force until I was up on my feet. I looked over to the bed with longing, I had never slept on something so comfortable before and I had had it all to myself. Dale of course had slept on the floor which I had felt bad about but hadn’t the courage to ask him lay next to me when he insisted that he would make camp on the floor.
“Come on, you must get ready today is going to be a busy day”
