Chapter 15

“On solstice night”

Dale’s husky voice rang through my mind as I slowly ate my breakfast, I was mindlessly eating not really tasting the food. Instead all I could taste was the sweetness of Dale’s lips, my cheeks flushed slightly as I thought about my first kiss. The darkness had made it all the sweeter, I felt him throughout my soul waking up things I had never known to exist within me.

As we parted our breath mingled and I could remember both of our hearts tirelessly drumming away, trying to jump into the other’s chest. He had then traced my lips and promised me that on Solstice night we would complete the bond that had been started.

At midnight the full moon and Dale’s birthday party would begin and then soon it would be Solstice. Absently I found myself tracing my lips, he had not kissed me again but the feeling was still imprinted on my lips.

“Why do you smile at nothing?”

I looked up to see all eyes on the table staring at me, I was glad that Dale had left to go on a day trip with Cara but it was still daunting to have Tatiana, Pietro and Kai staring at me with puzzled expressions.

“I am just excited for the ball”

Tatiana did not seem satisfied with my answer but she did not probe any further, instead she placed her hand on her stomach staring at her with satisfaction. Another smile erupted from me as I imagined that perhaps that would be me soon. I looked away from Tatiana only to meet Pietro’s wise blue eyes.

He stared at me with knowing before excusing himself from the table. I watched him walk away wondering how much he really knew. I placed down my spoon unable to eat any further, thinking about Dale filled my stomach with so much emotion that I was unable to eat anymore. Kai also placed down his spoon, standing up and looking at me.

“I hear you are to get a fitting at Delia’s” he stated

I answered with a nod, quickly looking outside it was still early morning the sun having only risen properly a few minutes. Delia had told me to come as quickly so I had woken up earlier but it seemed so had everyone else.

“I shall accompany you”

Tatiana looked up sharply, staring between Kai and myself with annoyance.

“Why must you accompany her? It is only a short distance away” she snapped

Kai did not look at her, as he moved out of his seat and tucked it in.

“I must also get a fitting” he said simply

She pursed her lips but added nothing only glaring at me. Kai placed a hand on her stomach and then kissed her hand. I watched them with interest, I had never seen them being so affectionate towards each other. Tatiana was usually possessive and all her gestures towards him were laced with jealously, Kai on the other hand was usually cold but this was something that seemed to translate to everyone.
