Dale watched me carefully as I moved around the clearing, my fists clenched up and my body tensed with frustration. I moved behind him, unsure about how to express my anger, I had never felt this way towards him and confused me. My anger was still there boiling in my blood and made all the clearer by the memory of holding the sword, the feeling was brandished in my very fingertips. I could feel the energy pulsing through me, the harsh remnants of ruthlessness. I had been ready to plunge the sword into the depths of his body and because I hadn’t, the feeling remained within me like shards of glass, its effects visible both within me as well as outside.

I slowly walked from behind him and stood in front of me, his face remained calm as he stared at my stormy face.

“I could have saved myself” I said as coldly as I could

I loved Dale and he had been good to me, but I had to show him that I didn’t want to be rescued all the time. For once I didn’t want him to look at me with worry and concern, when I looked into his eyes I wanted to see reassurance, I wanted to see that he thought I was strong enough to look after myself. I knew that I wasn’t there yet, but I wouldn’t ever get there if I didn’t start now.

“I know” he said simply his expression unchanging, a feature that reminded me of his older brother

“Then why didn’t you let me?”

Silence filled the air and I shrunk back as I saw a flicker of surprise in his eyes. I placed a hand over my mouth, shocked that I had raised my voice at him.

“Sorry” I mumbled

Dale sighed and within a short second he lost his calm expression, suddenly his face was painted with slight sorrow. He reached out for my hand which I moved out of reach, he stared at it casting his eyes away from me momentarily.

“Do you know what the difference between me and Farran is?”

I leant against one of the trees, looking at Dale. As he looked up at me I could see Farrah’s eyes, one blue and one grey. They looked at me with a glance that was loving but at the same time held a predatory glint. Dale blinked and Farrah was gone, disappearing into the depths of Dale somewhere I couldn’t see.

“He’s a wolf?” I questioned unable to see what this had to do with anything

Dale shook his head

“We’re both wolf”

Slowly Dale moved closer to me, I watched him as I tried to think of something else. I guess they were both wolf, after all they were technically the same person, after the Goddess had created them to be joint together as one.

“Dale stop trying to distract me, I want an explanation!” I cried out frustrated because all I wanted was an apology

He paused in his steps, his eyes looking at the floor. His skin seemed to twitch his muscles, moving gracefully as they revealed their power, my eyes became mesmerised by his smooth tan skin and despite him having put on some trousers I saw him as though he wore nothing. I shook my head attempting to rid myself of the attraction that was making my intentions gauzy.
