I rang Brie and Josh on the way, told them where I was going. They both shrieked like little girls but I made them promise to look after each other when I was gone, that is of course if he still wants me to go with him.

Looking at the clock as I pull into the marina it's already quarter past and Tara said he was going at five. Please god still be there, I can't watch you sail away without me.

I don't grab my bag, I don't even lock my door as I sprint down the pier towards the dock. My heart is racing, my legs burning as I push them to get me there quicker. Shit I wish I was better at gym. The sweat trickles down my back as his slot comes into sight.

Fuck... He's still here.

My legs don't stop as I run up the steps onto the boat, my breath coming out in hard pants as I search the deck for him. My lungs feel like they're on fire and I can barely see.

An all too familiar frame comes into sight.

There he is, his back to me as he holds onto the rail staring out at the open ocean that's calling his name. I try to steady my breathing but as my eyes fill with tears I just need him to turn around.

"Jayce..."

His hands stiffen, his body rigid like he'd never expected to hear my voice again. I can see the speed of his chest rise and fall in rhythm with the crashing waves.

His red face turning to face me, a look of joy quickly replaced with a torturous fear. "Why are you here Lee?"

My heartrate sky rockets as I realise he thinks I'm here to end it, for good. I step forward, tears falling from my eyes until he meets me in the middle. My hand placed firmly over his heart as I face him.

A small smile spreading across my face as I look at him and know, this is the man I'm going to spend the rest of my life with.

"Because Jayce Thompson... I'm yours."

His fear releases into the calming sea breeze as my body is pulled from the floor into his arms, his smiling lips meeting mine in the first kiss of the rest our lives.

And what a kiss it is...

It's been a long road for us, a life filled with love that awaits but not without the building blocks of tragedy. Every loss a precious reminder of what we have is fragile, life is a journey of unknowing but it's all the more easy to walk into the darkness when holding the hand of the person who is your light.

As Jayce wraps his arms around my waist, the boat sailing towards the sun setting horizon, our journey starts. The one we'll walk into eternity with, together.

I thank the angels in the heaven that for every moment after this, I shall always and forever be... the girl who fell in love with my future stepbrother.

He’s mine.
