"Ella, this isn't going to work." I said with a frown.
"I was afraid you would say that." Ella sighed.
"We want to adopt Lily. That's final." Liam agreed.
"Fine. I'll go get the paperwork." She huffed, turning on her heel and stomping back to her office.
The lads and I cheered. We won!
I followed Ella down to look for Lily. I found her sitting at the table, a glassy look in her eyes.
"Hey, love." I said softly, sitting down across from her. She shook her head, as if to clear it.
"Oh, hi." She said absently.
"So, I have some good news!" I said to her.
"What?"
"We're going to adopt you. Ella's getting the papers right now!"
"Oh. Cool." Lily's voice was tinted with sadness.
"What's wrong, Princess?"
"It's just... Don't you want a better girl? One with less... issues?"
"Are you kidding me? No girl compares to you! The fact that you aren't self centered like most girls out there makes you better."
"That's just me being weak." Lily sighed.
"No, you're not weak. It takes real courage and strength to admit someone's better," I assured her.
