Half a day. It took half a day to find what I was looking for. I was surprised Peter didn't send out a search for me. He seems to have a knack for finding people on Neverland. I was also grateful he didn't send a search for me. I'm taking a risk--a huge risk here. If I'm caught, that's it. The plan fails.

The entrance wasn't visible, only marked by a break in the bushes. Still, I could feel it. If you're around magic long enough you can start to sense it. There's a twist in your gut and a tingling sensation on your skin. If the magic is dark enough, you can feel sick. Standing here, in front of Dark Hollow that's how I felt. I felt sick. My throat closed and I tried not to hurl. This was going to be interesting.

I grazed my hand across the ivy and thorns, letting the hurt and pain from years ago flow through me. Just as I had to choke back a sob, the stems dried out and then crumbled. Leaves withered and fell to the ground. Thorns shriveled. I took a breath and walked in.

The air was cold. I could feel it passing into my lungs. My bones seemed to shiver with each step. I took out the coconut, ready for anything. Or, not ready really. The further I went the darker and redder Dark Hollow got. The fog was unreal--the grass and trees looked dead. Even the soil underneath my shoes seemed void of life.

Something moved in my peripheral. I turned, nothing was there. Again, on the opposite side. I opened the coconut, staring up, swiveling my head. My chest tightened, my heartrate kicked up. If this was Pan's shadow it was messing with me. Trying to spin me around in a circle. Then it attacked.

I hit the ground face first, dropping the pieces of the coconut. The wind whistled above me. I got up reaching for the coconut. Something hard hit my side. I yelped, my back hitting something. I opened my eyes to see a shadow--Peter's shadow--reach into my body. It burned where he touched. My skin felt like it was ripping. I screamed, managing to latch onto the shadow's arm, and once I did, I let him have it.

Fire stretched across its form. The shadow hissed, letting me go. I took a breath and slid over to the coconut pieces, waiting. The moment this place sucked the fire away, I lit the candle. It grabbed at the air, fighting to go free. The screeching was terrible, the air seeming to thicken and spin around me. I held steady, making the flame brighter, pushing harder than I ever had before. It struggled and then was finally sucked in. I capped it and the barrier spell took effect. I wrapped it in the twine and bagged it, rushing out.

I didn't stop. I kept going. My legs carried me straight through the Dark Jungle, right back the way I came. I teleported back into Baelfire's cave, Slamming the damn thing down in front of him. He jumped, at first scared and then concerned. "I got it. I'll meet you in the morning. We're leaving."

"What happened?" Bae asked. I turned. "Lys?"

"Tomorrow." I left. I left before he could say anything else--before he could grab me and convince me to stay. One deep breath. Two deep breaths. Three deep breaths. Please calm down, please calm down, please calm down.

It burned. It burned so bad. I could feel my soul leaving my body. I was going to die.

Quicker. I paused, bracing against a tree, a tear slipping down my face. I can't breathe. My body lowered to the ground, the rough bark of the tree scratching through the skin of my palm. I gasped for air, my chest tightening, my lungs burning. I fell. I shook. I scratched--no, clawed at my neck. My vision was hazy. Everything was too fast. I can't--

"Love. Love it's me. It's Peter." warm hands pulled me up. "Steady now." He caressed my face. My body relaxed. "It's okay. I've got you."

        "I'm sorry," I sobbed, "I left--I wasn't careful. I should--I shouldn't have--"

"Shhh," He started. I curled into him. He ran a hand over my hair. "You're right, Love. But don't worry. You did exactly what you were supposed to."

What is that supposed to mean?
