"Don't get me wrong, Love." Pan took a seat next to me and took my face in his hands. "I've always cared about you. When I met you--no, when I saw you for the first time it was like my past never existed. But that heart could only last so long."
Tears fell from my eyes but I stayed silent. There wasn't a single, audible sob that came from me. "What are you saying?"
"I need you. But to have you, I have to have Henry."
"No," I barely croaked out, "no, you don't. You can't! There has to be another way."
"Elyssa, I wish there were," he said softly, "I wish I could go back. I wish I had told your sooner, Love, but this is how it has to be."
By this point, my head was spinning. I sat there and I cried. Again. Peter just pulled me in and held me. He gently rubbed my back as I damn near screamed into his shoulder. There's no way to win. It's over. Fighting only delays the inevitable.
I love Henry like he's blood. I love Hook the same. Emma finally got reunited with her family and her kid and I'm what stands between them and Pan. I'm who can stop this. No matter what I do, I lose someone. Peter is the only person who's ever loved me. What can I do?
The dirty blond gently pulled away from the hug, "I'm sorry, Love. Truly." He stood. "I've got something to take care of. I'll only be a minute."
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"I've got business with our friend Captain Hook. David's been hit with dreamshade. I expect he'll be trying to get him to the waterfall. The Prince hasn't much time left."
"I want to go with you," I rushed, "please."
Peter looked me over. "Hurry up. We haven't much time."
I cleaned up, holding back my tears. I took a deep breath. As hard as I tried I couldn't relax. My muscles ached and my headache was turning into a migraine. Pan wrapped his arms around me from behind and buried his face in my neck. I Placed my hands on his.
"I know it's hard, Love, I'm sorry," he said, placing a kiss on my neck, "here... let me help."
My body relaxed, if only for a moment. My migraine subsided almost completely. That moment--that single moment--was peaceful and quiet. I closed my eyes, basking in his warmth. When I opened them, we were on Dead Man's Peak. He separated from me and I could feel the headache coming back.
I followed him to the cliff. I took a quick glance around. The Island seemed solemn and calm. Come to think, I've never just stood and looked out at the scenery for the sake of it. I've never just bathed in the warmth of the Neverland sun. The sound of the falls behind me brought me another sense of calm. I could almost melt away in it.
"Don't pull him up yet," Peter started, "I want to talk. Alone."
Hook turned, dropping the vines, "Elyssa?" he nearly ran over.
"She's fine."
"What do you want?"
"To offer you a deal. Come back and work for me. Like the old days," Pan shifted his weight to one foot. He always did that when he was a bit annoyed at something--or someone.
Hook laughed, "I don't miss the old days."
"What if I were to offer you something hard to come by?" he teleported closer to Killian, "Passage off the island."
