In this chapter our main protagonist actually has to practice... what a concept

Elizabeth
Still in the tent
8:30
"Alright let's go"
[ANALYZING]
[CREATURE UNKNOWN]
[BODY PART UNKNOWN]
[EFFECTS UNKNOWN]
"It's just a whole lot of unknown" I told them
"Just keep trying. No skill is prefect without practice." Gan told me
[ANALYZING]
[CREATURE UNKNOWN]
[APPENDAGE: CLAW/RIGHT ARM]
[EFFECTS UNKNOWN]
...
[APPRAISAL SKILL HAS IMPROVED TO LEVEL3]

"Huh... that's new." I said surprised

"Well what's new?" Rastoc asked sounding fairly disintereste

"It's not saying the body part is a claw or an arm but I got a message that my appraisal skill improved to level 3" I reported to the group

"See progress with practice." Gan said

"So does level 3 mean it's better." Auri spoke up for the first time in a little while

I turned to her and said "yes indeed. It means I got a little bit better."

"Oh. Great Job then Liz!" She said enthusiastically.

"With a higher level skill the effects should also be increased. I'm not 100% sure how appraisal skills work but I assumed it functions the same as any other." Leur said seemingly like she was analyzing the situation.

"Ok Liz give it another shot." I nodded and proceeded to fire up the skill again

[ANALYZING]
[CREATURE: NOT REPORTED]
[Appendage: right claw]
[EFFECTS: None]

"It changed but still not giving much info. It says the creature is not reported so maybe it's something rarely seen but I'm not sure if that would matter for analysis. We know it's the right claw, and it says there's no effects."
I told them

We all were stumped until Damian mentioned something interesting.

"Hey Elizabeth is it possible that Analyze and Appraise are 2 separate actions for the same skill? If it can happen with spellcraft then maybe it can happen with appraise." He actually made a good point.

So I put my hand on the claw and prepared to try performing appraise... then my body felt as if it was acting more on its own.

"Commencing Appraisal. This claw belongs to and unknown mantis type creature, the material of the claw is quite strong but also fairly heavy however it is capable of channeling skills. As this material is unfamiliar a monetary value cannot yet be placed." I said in an almost robotic tone before snapping out of my trance

"Heh That was weird" I tried to laugh it off.

"THAT'S IT!" Leur yelled surprising the rest of us and causing Rastoc to fall out of his chair.

"What's got you yelling so loud Leur?" Gan asked her

"The reason Captain Surenis had her skin rotting when the bug cut her. It wasn't just some random effect of the claw the creature is able to use skills!" She said enthusiastically

"That's actually very useful information good job picking that up. And good job Damian for mentioning the different skill actions." Gan replied

"And thank you for helping us with our investigation Elizabeth. This does help us out a good deal." He told me in an encouraging tone

"Oh uhhh... happy to help." I replied not entirely sure what to do in this situation.

"Are monster using skills that rare?" I asked

"Well this mantis is an unclassified monster so it'll need to be investigated and identified sooner or later." Leur spoke up before proceeding to answer my question
"Most beats type monsters have natural functions in their body that allow them to use different attacks like fire breath for example. Only about 4-5% of known beast type monsters can use skills either with their own body or through some other material to acts as a channeling medium. Sort of like how I can cast healing magic on my own but Gan can use elemental blades through his dagger."
