Chapter 33: Leo's Ascension

Leo roared, releasing a blast of wind that pushed us back. I looked toward Lilim, asking her what the hell is going on.

"My father corrupted him with one of my mother's spells. His power will slowly rise if we don't stop him soon!"

I looked toward Leo and let out an annoyed grunt, pulling out my sword.

"Matt, stay back and attack from afar, Connor, you and I will attack head one, and Lilim, see if you can find a way to undo this."

They nodded their head, and we engaged my plan. Connor and I charged toward Leo as Matt fired a barrage of arrows that flew by our side. Connor transformed into his Pseudo-Phoenix form, landing a strike to Leo alongside the arrows fired by Matt as I jumped into the air, firing an energy beam. The corrupted Leo let out a roar that destroyed my attack and sent us flying back.

Connor flew into the air and fired a barrage of energy blasts toward Leo, creating smoke when they landed. Leo walked out of the smoke, unfazed by the attack as his power grew larger and larger.

I ran toward Leo and created afterimages, trying to confuse him as I ran around him, but he unleashed a burst of aura, dissipating the clones. I expected this as I stayed back when creating the afterimages, charging energy into my hand. I fired a massive energy blast hitting Leo in the chest.

My blast began to push him back, and Connor landed next to me and fired an energy blast of his own. Leo fired an energy blast to counter ours and started to overpower us when Matt came by, firing a massive energy beam from his bow.

Our combined energy broke through Leo's, generating a massive explosion upon contact. The devil king watched in dismay as Leo laid on the ground, struggling to get up. He created more purple mist in his hand, sending it to Leo, and gave him more energy as he stood up and roared.

Leo fired a massive energy beam toward us, but Connor transformed into his Phoenix form, protecting us as he flew toward Leo. Lilim came flying toward Matt and Me, telling us what the mist is.

"My father corrupted Leo using negative energy, meaning if you give him your positive energy, you could free him from the corruption."

Matt and I looked at each other and nodded our heads, deciding to wait till' Connor weakens Leo enough to lend him our energy. Connor butted his head against Leo's, causing him to reel back. Leo tried to pounce onto Connor, but he flew into the air and fired an energy beam that Leo avoided.

Leo surrounded his body in glowing energy and sent a barrage of energy blasts toward Connor, who dodged them by flying around as the energy blasts followed him. Leo continued the onslaught of attacks and managed to hit Connor, sending him crashing into the ground.

Leo rushed toward Connor and jumped onto him, mauling him with his teeth. Connor fired an energy beam from his beak, knocking Leo away. Connor pinned Leo down and fired an energy beam at him, creating a massive explosion.

Connor flew into the air and noticed Leo rushing out of the smoke, flying toward him as Leo dodged the energy blast fired by Connor. Leo stopped running and turned around, firing a beam of energy that Connor avoided. Connor surrounded his body in fire and slammed into Leo, sending him sliding across the ground. Leo got up and roared, creating a large aura around his body as he rushed toward Connor.

Leo fired an energy beam that Connor avoided by flying upward but was brought to the ground when Leo teleported above him, dragging him down. With Connor pinned down, Leo started charging energy from the mouth of his three heads and fired an energy beam.

Just as Leo was about to fire the energy beam, Connor reverted back to his Pseudo-Phoenix Form, allowing him to escape the attack and head toward where Matt, Lilim, and I were.
