Chapter 13: Christopher Hartdall

I got up from my bed and left the hotel I was staying at, heading to the guild to eat some food and see if everyone else was there. I walked inside to be greeted by a guild worker and looked around for my friends. I saw them sitting at a table, walked over to them, sitting down next to Leo, and ordered some food.

"I've been meaning to ask you, Leo. How was your fight against the monsters?"

Leo took a bit out of his sandwich and looked at me.

"It went pretty well, but according to Matt, I changed into some three-headed dog, when I thought the Minotaur killed Autumn. How was your fight against the Hydra?"

"Difficult. Every time we cut one-off, it would grow two more. We did get help from a man named Heracles and his nephew Iolaus."

"So, Alex, what are we going to do today?"

I got up from the table, looking at my friends.

"Heading to the island where Lerna and her brother will be."

"What island?"

"I'm not sure, Leo. I'll ask the king about it."

I left the guild and headed to the king's castle.

"Ah, Alex, what can I help you with?"

"When I was fighting Lerna, I heard her mention an island she and her brother are going to destroy. Tell me, do you anything about this "island"?"

The king got up from his throne chair, walking toward me.

"That "island" is most likely the Castal Kingdom. You can get to the kingdom by going to Vrenate and get on one of their ships as they always stop at the Castal Kingdom since it's a popular vacation spot for Demi's and humans."

"How do humans get to the island if Vrenate doesn't allow them into the kingdom?"

"Simple, buy a ticket from the Castal travel booth and show it to the guards in the front gates of the kingdom."

"I don't think that's possible for us. You see, my friends and I, we were banned from entering Vrenate."

"Banned from Vrenate?! How so?"

"Connor accidentally killed the king when we were fighting one of the generals."

"I see. Well, I'll give you this then."

The king handed me a silver badge.

"What's this?"

"Use this to get a free ticket for you and your friends so you can head to the Castal Kingdom."

I thanked him, left the castle, and walked back to the guild. I entered the guild and asked one of the workers where the Castal travel booth is. She pointed to where it is, and I walked over. While I was walking, I bumped into Bryce, who was holding a guild quest mission.

"Sorry, Bryce, I didn't see you coming."

"It's cool. So, what are you doing?"

"Going to get some tickets so we can get to the next kingdom. Do you want to come with us?"

"I got a quest me and Clayton are going to do. Good luck beating the Devil King, and we'll meet again when the time comes."

I held out my fist and gave him a fist bump as he walked away. I walked toward the booth and showed the man the silver badge. He grabbed it from my hand and inspected it.

"Yep, this is the real thing. How many tickets?"

"Eight."

He handed me the eight tickets, and I walked back toward the table where my friends, Yuki, Selena, Lucy, Ruby, were sitting and put the tickets in front of them. They grabbed the tickets, and Matt gave me a confused look.
