Chapter 15: Kurai

We arrived at the spot where the Sea Serpent was supposedly seen and found an array of damaged ships afloat in the water. Selena looked at the knights telling them to look for survivors.

"That won't be necessary."

We looked up to the mainmast to see Lerna standing on it. She jumped down, sprouted her wings, and landed on the ground, and charged at Connor.

Connor blocked her sai with his spear.

"Back for more, huh?"

"A dragon never backs down from a fight!"

Connor transformed into his Pseudo-Phoenix Form and flew into the air with Lerna following behind him. While they were fighting, I noticed some knights throwing barrels into the ocean.

"What are you doing?"

"Throwing barrels filled with magic powder. When the Sea Serpent gets close enough, we ignite the powder with our magic."

"I'm afraid something like that won't work."

I looked back to see the queen inside a barrier and the man who took her.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Kurai Kokoro. The fourth general of the Devil King and the brother to Lerna."

He pulled out two daggers and charged at me. I pulled out my sword, blocked his attack, and pushed him back. Yuki and Selena pulled out their swords and stood by my side.

"How cute. You need someone to fight for you."

"They're not fighting for me. They're fighting with me."

He shrugged.

"Like I care. I can take you all on at the same time."

I looked at Selena and Yuki, and they nodded their heads.

I charged headfirst, with Selena and Yuki moving toward the sides. I clashed my swords against his dagger, holding him in place as Yuki and Selena tried to stab their sword into him, but he jumped in the air causing Yuki and Selena to crash into each other as he kicked them away.

"You two alright?

Yuki gave me a thumbs up, and Selena nodded her head.

"Triple teaming him isn't going to work."

He gave me a little taunt with his daggers as I walked toward him slowly, picking up speed the closer I got. I swung my sword, but he dodged it, punched me in my stomach, and opened his hand.

"Water Force Shot!"

The attack launched me in the air, as he used the side of the masts to jump back and forth, hitting me with his daggers multiple times, and used his tail to launch me to the ground. I got up and held my arm, noticing that I was bleeding a little from the impact when I hit the floor of the ship.

"Is that the best you can do? You have let me down, hero."

I held my arm out but noticed that I dropped my sword when I hit the ground.

"Lost your sword?"

"Tch. I don't need it. I can fight without."

"Oh? Then let me see."

He charged at me as I summoned my shield. I blocked the attacks of his daggers and landed a punch to his face. He turned around quickly to hit me with his tail, but I grabbed it, threw him in the air, and punched him into the mainmast. He coughed out blood from the impact. He looked at me and turned invisible.
