Chapter 26

"Daddy is here.. Venice."

Venice was hiding on my legs because she was too ashamed on her own father. Drix wiped his tears while looking at Venice. Lumuhod siya sa harap nito para magpantay silang dalawa. Drix looked like he was hurt.

We were in his room. Tinawag ko kang kanina si Venice para makita niya na ang daddy niya. I was finally happy.. masaya ako na tanggap niya si Venice. I thought he wouldn't accept the fact that we had a daughtder.

"Daddy.." Venice looked at him. She was about to cry. "Why did you.. leave us?"

Drix pursed a lips. I couldn't tell how emotional he was. He started to cry infront of his daughter. I felt guilty because I was the reason why they seperated.

"I.. I did not leave you, love." Drix caressed her face using her thumb finger. "I'm sorry.. Daddy had to go away to become one of the great soldiers out there.. I loved you so much.. I promise.. I will not go away again.."

"Please.. don't leave... again," she wiped her tears using her small hands. "You made.. Mommy cry.."

"Yes, I'm sorry.. I will never leave you again.." Drix was still crying. She hugged her daughter tight. "Daddy will always be here.. I will protect you.. and your Mommy.. I'm sorry.. I'm really sorry.. love."

"You don't.. love Mommy.." she said in her small voice. "That's why.. you leave.. her."

"I loved your Mommy so much," Drix whispered on her ears. "I loved you both.. that I couldn't imagine my life.. without the both of you.. I'm sorry. Daddy will do better.. I'll be better.. so you will not hate me.."

I was hurt. I wiped my tears away while looking at them. Hindi ko alam kung saan ako mas masasaktan. Sa mga sinasabi ba ni Drix o sa mga sinasabi ni Venice. Drix was saying sorry again and again. Venice wrapped her small arms on her daddy's neck to hug him even tighter.

"Daddy will always be here, okay?" Hinarap niya si Venice. "We'll go to the places that you want to go.. We'll buy a lot of cats if that's what you wan-"

"I just wanted to be with you.. Daddy." Venice cut him off, sobbing.

"Shush, I know.." Drix wiped her tears. "That's why I'm here.. and I will forever be here.."

Drix stood up and carried her. Pinunasan niya ulit ang luha ni Venice bago niya ako tiningnan. Sinandal ni Venice ang ulo niya sa balikat ni Drix. She was hugging him tighter, afraid that he might leave her again.

"Mommy, hug Daddy!"

I swallowed the lump in my throat. Drix opened his one arm so that he could hug me. I smiled all by myself when I felt his warm embrace again. Drix kissed the top of my head which made Venice giggle. I kissed my daughter's cheeks before going out of his room.

I went to the my hotel room so I could get Venice her clothes. Basa na kasi sa pawis 'yung damit niya nang dahil sa kakaiyak. Nakita ko naman si Sabrina at Josh na naglalaro ng valorant sa loob ng kwarto. They knew what happened. Ibinsba nila ang cellphone nila para harapin ako.

"Kamusta?" tanong ni Josh.

"It was.. fine." I gave them a smile. "He accepted his daughter.. Finally."
