Maura

I had survived my first week at Westwood High, physically. Mentally I was pissed off and tired of the constant drama that seemed to follow me everywhere already.

I thought by coming here, all would be fine. I would be able to sit in peace by myself in the cafeteria and sit in classes without a murmur of me being spoken.

Of course, when you are the new kid, everyone is invested in you, watching your every move. Tiffany had stopped even trying to be my friend, I was absolutely fine with it. I could deal with a few pesky glances every so often.

Though it wasn't Tiffany that ruined my week. It was Adrien.

He was constantly there, whether he was behind me, far away from me, hell he even seemed to live in my mind. I was always waiting for the next moment, waiting for him to press me against those lockers.

Riley had continued his efforts to get to know me, and he was nice and seemed genuinely interested in me, so I gave in, yet I told him not to expect anything formal from me.

He seemed happy by my response. We weren't dating, no where close to dating, but we had a similar level of attraction.

I walked into the school on Monday, I already wanted to leave. The first view I had was Tiffany running her hand through Adrien's hair, and Adrien, looking like he would love nothing more than to snap her neck, until he looked at me. Then I was the target of that fatal stare.

Hands wrapped around my waist, I looked up and found Riley behind me, a soft smile on his face. I turned back to Adrien and found his gaze had dropped to Riley's hands.

I could see his chest rising and falling quicker, his attempts to remove Tiffany forgotten as he just stared at my waist.

Riley directed me over to Landon and Henry, the two boys looked up and stared at us. Landon's smile grew, as if in victory, I didn't really want to know what it meant, but I knew the kind of boys Landon and Henry are.

"Maura, are you hanging with us tonight?" Landon asked. I raised a brow in confusion. "We are heading to the forest tonight. Henry found something pretty cool last week." He explained.

"Sure." I said, I didn't have any other plans, and maybe it would be fun.

I spent the rest of the day like normal, except there weren't any torments from Adrien, maybe he finally decided to back the fuck off.

The thought, unfortunately, made my heart sink slightly. Adrien was the only interesting part of school, even if it was just the death threats or humiliation that he gifted me.

I didn't have to worry for long, as I was walking from my last class I felt an intimidating presence behind me.

I spun around and found Adrien behind me. He opened his mouth as if he was about to say something, until he looked over my shoulder.

His eyes widened in panic, I looked over my shoulder as well and found Tiffany storming towards us.

I turned back towards Adrien and snorted, he was terrified of Tiffany.

"Trouble in paradise Rayne." I said sweetly.

His eyes flicked back to me and his face fell into his near comforting scowl.
