Maura

Two weeks had passed since camp and Adrien hadn't given me the time of day. He sent me hateful glares whenever we crossed paths and that was all.

There was no taunting comments, no brief touches. He acted like an entirely different person. I was beginning to think I had just imagined what had gone down between us.

Adrien was making it clear he never wanted anything to do with me anymore, that I was too painful to have in his life. I was happy to oblige.

Riley and I had grown closer, he was sweet and no way forceful, yet something always felt off around him. Perhaps it was because I wasn't being entirely truthful, pushing down who I was before and pretending to be an innocent girl. I pushed it to the side, balancing school and my social life was hard enough without a scandal.

We were in the study hall when Riley asked if I wanted to join the group at an abounded hospital an hour away.

"It's just an hour's drive from town, we can all jump into Landons truck after school on Friday and drive down, it should be fun." Riley suggested.

I couldn't help but grin at the idea. Life around here was getting boring, visiting a supposedly haunted hotel would make it more exciting.

"Yea sure, just as long as we don't get caught." I smirked.

As soon as the last bell rang on Friday I followed Riley out towards the parking lot. The group was already waiting around Landon's truck.

Tiffany, Jessii and Landon all piled into the front of the truck, leaving Henry, Riley and I to sit in the tray. The next minute Landon had started the engine and went tearing out of the parking lot.

Before the gates blocked the view, I spied Adrien climbing onto his bike. I prayed he wouldn't be a creep and follow us.

I settled down as much as I could on the metal tray, the wind was ripping around us as Landon drove well over the speed limit. I couldn't help but shiver at the chill the wind gave.

Suddenly there was a warm arm around me, I looked up and found Riley squeezed up against me, his body blocking the roaring wind. I smiled slightly and leaned against him.

I knew, with Riley, I was safe. There was no desire to run around the streets at night and break into people's houses or get high on whatever I could find. It was relaxing to say the least.

"You know, I don't know much about you." I said to Riley. "Other than your current life."

I watched as Riley gave a small smirk towards Henry than looked down at me. "There isn't much to say, my life has always been the same."

"Any crazy exes I should worry about." I chuckled. Riley's eyes flickered to Henry before looking back down at me.

"Nope, the only girl i've ever had a thing with was back in eighth grade but she moved." He said, I couldn't quite believe that.

"There is no way that is true, you are like the classic high-school sweetheart boy." I said, smiling, yet not showing how sceptical I was.

"I just never liked any of the girls that came towards me." He shrugged. I had to remind myself that I wasn't even his girlfriend. He probably would ask me for a while if it ever came to that.
