Maura
I walked through the large glass door and scanned the crowd around me. I hardly recognised anyone there and decided they must all be friends of friends of the team mates.
The beat of the music trembled beneath our feet, people all around sang to the music in synch. Purple and blue lights flashed around, casting a euphoric glow.
Adrien gripped my hand tightly as people pushed us around. At one point, it seemed as if we were about to be split in opposite directions from the push of the crowd. Yet Adrien held on tightly, not letting me go.
I tried to ignore the silly swell in my chest as his hand held tight. We were only, what? Fuck buddies with strong sexual chemistry for one another, both with painful pasts that the two of us can't push aside.
I scanned the crowd and spotted Annabelle's red hair from behind. There were many people patting on her back on congratulating her.
At a painfully slow speed, I pushed my way through the crowd towards her, pulling Adrien along with me.
Annabelle spun around as I reached her. Her face was beaming, already growing red from the bodies pressing around.
I pulled her into a tight hug, finally letting go of Adrien's hand. She squeezed me before pulling away and taking in my red, rhinestone dress.
I looked down and found her wearing a green dress that flowed loosely around her thighs. The top half was tight, outlining her considerably toned body.
"I'm so glad you came, I need to see how good you are at peer pong." Annabelle cried out over the booming music. Her arms gripped mine, as if scared I was about to melt into the floor.
"Girl, I'm a bitch at peer pong. If we play, you're going to beat the shit outta you." I cried back, my voice full of undoubted confidence at my lack of skills.
Annabelle laughed, her head whipped the the side of me as if only realising the tall, tattooed guy beside me. A knowing grin crept on her face. "I see you took my advice." She said.
"It's not like I had much of a choice, he came storming in begging for me to take him." I told her.
"I can't blame him, I would do the same, just look at you." She laughed, making a show of looking me up and down.
A dark-skinned boy came up beside Annabelle and I couldn't help but notice as she blushed slightly as he leant down and whispered into her ear.
Annabelle waved him off and she shook her head. "What was that about?" I asked, curious of the quiet conversation.
"A hookup offer." Annabelle said bluntly, I opened my mouth in shock before she continued. "That was Isiah, he is the captain of the male swim team. I had the biggest crush on him ever since middle school. He rejected me every time."
"And, he was just asking you out now?" I said, excitement for my friend building in my voice.
Annabelle grimaced. "He asked if I wanted to meet him in my room, alone. But he is only interested because I am someone now. Besides, my interests lay else where." Annabelle looked a tad shy.
