I stumbled backwards, a pair of weak hands managed to tear me away from Maura. I looked up to find my youngest sister, Maddie, standing beside Maura, arms crossed.

Maddie looked as if she had just saved the world, and she was only six.

"Maddie, what are you doing up?" I asked, straightening myself up. Maura looked like she was ready to burst out laughing.

"I wanted a glass of water and I found you attacking this girl." She squeaked. Maura slid off the kitchen bench and stood beside Maddie, looking at me as if she agreed with the kid, a smile on her lips. I had to admire, she looked great in my shirt, though I had never been more thankful that it at least covered every part of her.

"Oh, god Maura, you have to help me out not gang up against me." I groaned.

Maura turned towards Maddie and crouched down to her height. "I appreciate your help, but I am fine, your brother was just being silly." She said softly.

Maddie looked around as if expecting to find someone else in the room. "So what was happening?" She asked confused.

I opened my mouth, than closed it. Embarrassment crept up my cheeks, it felt like they were on fire. The microwave beeped, saving me from a very awkward conversation with a six year old.

I crouched down beside Maddie and took one of her small hands in my own. I smiled as I took in Maura's ring on my finger before looking back up at my sister.

"You will go to bed now, and when you wake it this will all be a dream." I kissed her softly on her head, in a way that I never do. Maybe it will convince her that because her older brother was nice in this strange night, it would definitely be a dream.

However, I realised that i like being so nice to her and maybe she wasn't such an annoying brat. How clearly wrong I was about everyone.

Maddie, her desire for water now forgotten, ran up the stairs, her foot hitting each step softly.

I turned towards Maura and took her in my arms again, kissing her. She pulled away but she was smiling. "If that was your dad or mum, that would've play out much differently." She smirked.

I knew she was right but I just couldn't help it. I turned around and took our steaming, delicious meals from the microwave and put them on seperate plates.

Maura, her finger now holding my ring, eagerly started to eat. Her mouth hung open when she noticed how hot it was.

I laughed as she took some water from the fridge and sculled it down.

There was such an ease between us now, and it made me wonder why it took us so long to accept that we wanted each other and not only for sex.

I took hold of both plates and headed to my room. Maura following behind me. She raced ahead and opened the door for me, staring greedily at our food.

I set the plates on my bed and climbed in. Maura walked towards my desk to see what I had been working on before she had woken up.

She smiled as she picked up a sketch of her sleeping. It was my favourite piece of art now. It captured her perfectly in her beautiful glory.
