"No. You are forgetting the rule of BODMAS my love." You gently said - going over Maleeka's maths homework.

Indeed You were in hospital, but that wasn't a good enough excuse to be out of action to tend to your child's education. And You weren't accepting Maleeka staying away from school because you were ill. Hell no. Especially remembering that she's been ditching school a lot.

Smiling up at you, "I miss you calling me that mom." She thoughtfully stated with a crooked smile, looking up at you.

Returning the smile with a grin, you pushed her head back down to stare at the book. "Focus." You instructed.

"Yes,yes! Silly mistake. I must of been rushing doing this because I want to spend time with you!" Your daughter protested energetically as she erased out her incorrect answer and began working it out again.

"Hm, is the answer 72?" She asked, looking up at you with the pencil pressed against her chin.

Clapping proudly, you gingerly kissed her forehead, "Yes it is! Well done. Next activity."

Groaning with exasperation, Maleeka continued to do her work in between your legs on the hospital bed. With the curt and casual conversation going on between the two of you in between.

With the hour of nine approaching, you and Maleeka were highly engrossed in the board game you and her always used to play. It reminded you of the times it was just the two of you in your dorm back at university.

There wasn't much you could do with her unsupervised like play outside because it wasn't orthodox to have a kid on the medicine campus. So everyday for hours, you and her would play board games on the bed or the carpet floor. Accompanied by joyful laughter, jeers, snacks and drinks.

She practically grew up with you never more than 5 metres away. You and her in that little room, with everything shared.

Sleeping in the bed together in your arms when she was a toddler, to her body sprawled across over you when she got a bit bigger was all Maleeka knew. Cooking together, or at least her watching you and nibbling on small bits, to even going to the toilet together. Not intentionally though.

Sometimes you would be busy and Maleeka would bang on the door saying she needs the toilet during her potty training years.

Thinking back, it was quite amusing to have her plastic potty toilet next to the actual toilet.

The most random conversations would be shared during those few minutes you and her sat side by side in the bathroom.

Not that she or you ever minded the lack of space. Obviously because since birth all she was used too was being attached to you physically. So being around you 24/7 was the normal. However, emotionally, the connection ran much deeper than physical. The love the both of you had was uncomprehensive for the human mind to grasp. So great you would actually pick her over Hisoka any day if Maleeka didn't like Hisoka. In a heart beat, you would give up your first love for her.
There was truly nothing you and her haven't shared together. Without a shadow of doubt, your daughter was your best friend.

She truly filled the void in your heart that was torn open from Itachi's death and Hisoka's abandonment. Maleeka was your light. Your strength to live came from her. Not Hisoka. The thought of leaving Maleeka in this world terrified you because you knew how disgusting and cruel this world was. The feint hearted don't survive.

And no child deserved to be motherless. You couldn't leave her yet..There was still so much you had to teach her and pass down. Maleeka was your only legacy. It was your job to groom her into the best and most strong willed woman you possibly could.
