Getting ready for the family dinner your stomach began to turn and you only felt butterflies.
This was going to be difficult to tell your parents that they were going to be grandparents. Your Pa had mentioned it when you were about to tell them you were moving in together.
If only this could run as smoothly as that did.
Walking into the restaurant your parents were already waiting for you. You had called ahead to tell them you were coming early. Your Ma, Pa and Pete were standing around the bar chatting. They greeted you with hugs and kisses.
"So why are you here early?" Your Pa asks with a confused look. You look to your Ma who is already grinning.
"We have some news." You began to explain. You take a moment to compose yourself, then you look at Chris and then back to your family. "We are having a baby."
"Oh congratulations guys this is amazing news." Your Ma explains.
Hugs are exchanged again.
"You don't seem so surprised." You state.
"I knew." Your Ma said softly.
What was it with the parents knowing everything before you told them anything.
"How did you know?" You asked your Ma who had pulled you aside.
"A mother always knows. You have been moody, your body is changing and you haven't been drinking." Your Ma replies.
"Well okay then. Are you happy?" You ask with a worried grin.
"I am so excited. Our first grandbaby. If your happy sweetheart we are happy." She replies giving you another hug.
Again this went better than you imagined it would. You smile at your Ma and look over to Chris who is being poured a shot of something and is tossing it back with your Pa and Pete.
As the rest of the afternoon pushed on the staff and friends began arriving for the family dinner.
In the time that you had been with Chris you had attended quite a few family dinners together, however there were still a few star struck employee's that didn't know how to act around him. There were also a few of the young girls who flirted a little too much with him for your liking but you would let it slide.
Chris was always gracious in his responses and gave you no reason to be concerned. It never stopped you being jealous however.
Sitting at the dinner table trying to muscle down some of the amazing food in front you, Mark leaned closer to you and whispered low in your ear.
"Congratulations Mamma." You turned to look at him with raised eyebrows.
"I knew my Ma wouldn't be able to help herself." You replied.
"She didn't tell me. I figured it out. Your struggling with your food, your not drinking and your boobs have got huge. I'm observant." Mark laughs.
"Well I guess I'm going to have to start telling people. I'm starting to get a little bit of a bump." You replied.
"Well you look fabulous and can I say the video of you at the open mic night was good on Jimmy." You looked at Mark and suddenly realised who had recorded the performance.
Mark had always been your biggest fan and you would often send me half finished lyrics to ask his advice.
"Your the one who done it?" You accused a little louder than you expected earning a few glances from others around the table.
"I took the video yes but I only shared it with one person. Well they demanded it from me more to the point. I'm still not quite sure why he didn't record it himself." Mark whispered to himself.
From what Mark had told you it could be one of many people. Your Pa, Pete, Brad, Chris, although he had already told you that he hadn't shared the video. Oh how could you be so stupid. It was Scott.
"Was it Scott?" You ask Mark, who nodded in response.
"Son of a bitch. I blamed Chris and I've accused you when I should've been onto the biggest trouble maker of them all." You explain with a small apology to Mark.
"It's fine but come on Nell he has done you a favour you should've put yourself out there sooner. When you were in New York. Why didn't you?" Mark asks.
Thinking about the answer it always wound back to Nathan. He never believed in you. He would claim you would never make it and that if you did it wouldn't last.
Looking back on the relationship with Nathan you began to realise how toxic it actually was. Chris treated you with so much respect and he was always behind you with everything you endeavoured to achieve. Be it little or big.
"Nathan, he never believed in me, so I didn't believe in myself. Guess I should start." You reply.
"I think you have more than enough people who believe in you and a very big fan of you right by your side. You will be amazing." Mark hugs you into his shoulder and kisses you on the forehead.
The rest of the afternoon went without a hitch and you left with boxes of food again ready for the week of work.
When you arrived home you instantly got on the phone to call Scott. As you paced around the lounge, Chris watched on.
"Scott I have a bone to pick with you." You scolded. "You could've at least given me a heads up that you were sharing that video about. Yes I am mad at Mark for sending it to you as well. Well of course Jimmy has asked me to go on the show." Chris is looking at you with wide eyes. "I am going to go on the show but it should've been my decision to put the video out there." You roll your eyes at Chris who holds his hands up in surrender. "Thank you Scott but in future a heads up please. Yes see you Tuesday."
You hang up the phone and sit next to Chris. He snuggles you into his side and kisses you on the head.
"So Scott is to blame?" Chris asks.
"He is. I don't know why I didn't think of him in the first place to be honest. It was either him or Brad but I figured it out in the end." You shrug.
"Well I'm sure we will hear from my manager most likely tomorrow about Jimmy's show. Seriously though babe if your not ready to do it then don't." Chris says quietly.
"No I will do it I have actually got a few news songs. I might go and have a tinkle if you don't mind." You reply standing and walking towards the piano.
Sitting at the piano you close your eyes for a moment and then begin playing a quiet tune, one of your new songs. Chris watches on as you play the music. The dogs are sat by your feet. This is exactly where you wanted to be and exactly where you were happiest.
In not too many more months you would have a little bundle of joy to take up your time and if everything went well with the interview on Jimmy Fallon you could be writing and recording an album.
Chris sat watching you play the piano until he got antsy and then began moving around and packing things away, thats when you started singing some of the lyrics that you had written to the melody.
Heading to bed that night with a song on your mind and excitement you struggled to let your mind rest. Chris obviously felt the anxiety you felt and pulled you in closer to him.
"What's wrong?" He whispers.
"What if I'm not good enough?" You turn to look at him.
"You are amazing. Don't ever let anyone tell you differently. Have you even looked at the amount of views that video has?" Chris asks.
"No why is it bad?" You asked curiously.
"Why do you always doubt yourself. Its up to five million views already and its been up since yesterday. That's amazing. That isn't a video of someone who isn't good enough." Chris explains.
"Thanks babe, you always know how to cheer me up." You kiss him sweetly.
