Two weeks at home with Penny and you were in harmonious bliss. With the surgery and everything that occurred with the birth Chris had managed to get extra time off of the press for the film.
Everyone had been rallying around you both. His sister had been amazing, your Ma had been dropping food off from Pete most nights. Unfortunately at one point you would have to fend for yourselves but for now you would take all the help.
It was almost time to think about registering Penny as a proper little person. But you had been looking into it. Sitting down on the sofa with Chris to another meal from Pete.
"Chris I've been thinking I want to get married." You said.
"Well I'm glad. That's what I was hoping you wanted when you said yes." Chris joked.
"No you dork I want to get married now. Like in the next couple of weeks. I want my name to be the same as yours and Penny's when we register her as our little person." You explained.
"You know how much I want to marry you but don't you want a proper wedding?" Chris asked, his interest peaked a little more.
"I am happy to head down to city hall and get married with two witnesses. Then we can organise a big party here for all our friends and family. I am not worried about a big fancy wedding. But if you are we can wait."
"I will marry you today if we can get an appointment. I love you Nell. Let's do it." He says with a huge kiss.
The next couple of days were a mixture of stress and chaos. In your head you couldn't wait to get married and it seemed like the best idea but the stress that came with planning a huge party seemed a little more crazy than you originally thought.
Chris and you enlisted a planner that would help you get everything ready at the house. You wanted something chilled but equally beautiful. The natural tones from the house were replicated outside and you had pieces of natural wood brought in to make temporary stations where relaxed sitting was placed and lights could be hung.
The biggest pain was trying to keep everyone away from the house. It consisted of you and Chris having to take Penny round to visit your parents and leave the planner to do her work alone. Occasionally sending a message or a secret facetime here and there.
Scott and Brad were going to be your witnesses. You had sworn them to secrecy but it was overall a blessing because they could be at the house to oversee the party plans.
Brad couldn't wait and had already booked you an appointment to find a wedding dress. Although you were getting married at city hall he and Scott insisted that you needed to wear a wedding dress.
Saturday would be when you had your appointment for city hall. You would hold the party straight after.
Invites had already been sent out but with the ruse that you were celebrating the birth of Penny. So far everyone had accepted your invitation and no one was suspicious. So far this was all going according to plan but you were waiting for something to back fire or someone to catch wind of what you were up to.
This is the most sneaky you had ever been before and you couldn't wait to surprise all of your family and friends with the news of your marriage.
Some moments you thought to your parents and Chris' wondering how disappointed they would be when they found out you were already married, but this is how you wanted it for now. Just the two of you with your witnesses and Penny. You wanted Chris' last name to be yours on her birth certificate and you knew that you couldn't wait much longer to call him your husband, surely everyone would understand your reasoning.
