"Are you alright?" He asked again. Gawping at the man you try to make your brain form words but everything is scrambled and your pretty sure you would start drooling if you opened your mouth. "Maybe you should sit down did you hurt anything?"
"Oh I'm fine, just a couple of scratches and a fat lip. I think I'm more embarrassed than anything else." You finally manage to mumble. Moving around to the other side of the bench you sit carefully on the edge of the bench. The god like man follows you around and sits down next to you. Taming the dogs to sit next to him.
"Are you sure your ok. I literally live two minutes away I can take you back there and you can get cleaned up." He says with a caring voice.
"Honestly I'm fine. I will pick my dignity up on the way back home." You laugh but its to hide the pain. Your pretty sure you have cut your knee as well because you can feel a warm liquid oozing down your leg.
Looking properly at the man seated next to you it suddenly clicks in your head who your knight in shining armour actually is. Your eyes widen and you look back down to your knee touching it slightly to occupy the silence between you. When you move your hand away from your leg the crimson liquid has seeped through your leggings and is on your fingers.
"Ok you are definitely coming back to mine. I will help you walk." He puts his arm around your waist and lifts you carefully. Smiling up to him you continue on the direction you were heading before your epic fail. "I'm Chris by the way."
"I'm Nell." You reply with a smile. "Honestly though I am ok."
Chris continues to walk you in the direction of his house. Maple and Chris' dog is following next to you.
On the one day that you decided to get out of the house early hoping to not see anyone, you had to be dragged over in front of someone as gorgeous as Chris freaking Evans. Everything in your life right now was crazy and complicated enough. This was not going to make things any better. At least you were alone, looking around you hadn't seen anyone else in the park, thank god no one else had seen you fall flat on your face.
Heading out of the park and towards a row of houses getting gradually bigger, Chris ushers you closer to a house surrounded by a high wall with a huge gate. He pulls out a little black key and pushes a button on it, the gate beside the huge double height gate swings slowly open. He really liked his privacy, this place was like fort knox. Hobbling slowly up the steps Chris opens the door and walks you through the threshold to his amazing house. You stop for a moment to look around, everything was natural tones with lots of windows along the back wall creating a peaceful and light atmosphere. Huge brown leather sofas were placed around a coffee table and on the far side a wall from floor to ceiling was filled with books. This literally looked like your dream house.
"The kitchen is this way, I'm sure I have a first aid kit here somewhere." You follow him towards the kitchen, he has gone ahead and is hunting through the high cupboards. Plonking yourself down on one of the high stools by the breakfast bar you try to pull your leggings up to get a better look at what you've done to your leg, but they wont budge past your calf. "Ah I've found it now let's get you cleaned up."
"Really you didn't have to do this. Obviously you had only just started your walk. I feel bad for..." You look down at Chris' dog who is sitting by your feet along with Maple.
"Dodger, oh he is fine. I will take him out later. Is it ok if I put them outside?" He asks walking over to the sliding door.
"Oh yeah of course, Maple out you go." You talk down to you dog who obeys and follows Dodger out the door to run around in the huge garden.
"Right back to patching you up. Let's see I think your going to have to take those leggings off so I can get a better look at what you've done." Shocked by his brazen comment you look at him with wide eyes. "Oh, I get it wait here one second." He rushes to a small room off of the kitchen and comes back with a pair of shorts in his hand. "Here put these on."
Taking the pants from him you stand slowly and then give him another look prompting him to turn away from you. Carefully pulling the leggings down you see the full extent of the wound on your leg. Luckily you had never been squimish with blood but there was quite a lot. Carefully pulling the shorts up over your exposed area you smile at Chris who was rocking back and fourth on his feet.
"So I've known you for all of ten minutes and I've already got you back to my place and in your underwear. Not what I expected for a Thursday morning." He said letting out a small chuckle.
"Steady on." You laugh back to him. "Ok you can turn back around now." Chris swivels on his toes back towards you and then looks down at the cut on your knee. He began digging around in the first aid kit putting cotton swabs and alcohol solution on the kitchen counter. "Check you out Dr Evans." You smile at him.
"So you do know who I am." He turns to look at you briefly then squirts some swabs with the alcohol solution.
"I mean I haven't been living under a rock. I didn't know you lived here though. I've only been back for a few days." You reply in your sassy voice. He picks up the swab and moves closer to you with it. "Go on I'm ready for it."
He carefully places the swab on your knee patting around the area you have cut, trying to remove the dried blood, checking if it is still bleeding.
"Your a pretty good doctor, this doesn't hurt at all." You say sweetly.
"Well your a good patient." He looks up and smiles at you. Finally he is finished cleaning the cut on your leg and puts a large plaster over it. "There I don't think I need to amputate, you should make a full recovery." His cheeky smile is showing again as he packs away the supplies and puts the used cotton swabs in a bag and then into the bin.
"Honestly thank you for doing this. You really didn't need to. I could've done this when I got home." You explain, watching him move around the kitchen.
"Well I think it was my fault. Maple seemed to take a shine to Dodger and vice versa. She is a strong pup. How long have you had her?" He asked taking a couple of bottles of water from the fridge placing one in front of you and opening the second for himself.
"Me and my boyfriend got her six months ago." He looks at you with wide eyes at the mention of the word boyfriend. "Sorry I mean ex. I keep forgetting."
"Ex? Forgetting? Is it recent?" He asked curiously.
"Erm yeah I guess you can say that. About four days ago. I caught him in bed with our neighbour. I packed my shit, and came home. Luckily my parent's own an apartment they were trying to let. I guess everything happens for a reason. So there's my sad sack of a story. Boyfriend of eight years cheated with the skanky brunette from downstairs so I packed me and Maple up, came home, dyed my hair and I'm starting to work on me. Bet your glad you went out for your walk nice and early this morning hey." You smile at him then look down at the bottle he gave you.
"I am sorry to hear about your ex, no one should ever be cheated on or cheat." He says taking another sip of his water.
"Sorry I have chewed your ear off and you were supposed to be walking Dodger. I will get out of your hair, I have loads of errands to run, as I'm sure you do." You stand and move towards the door to get Maple. "Chris have you seen them?" Chris joins you over by the door to witness Dodger and Maple laying together under the tree. "Well she will be a nightmare to make leave."
"Stay for a while. Surely you need some breakfast." Again you are taken back by the tenacity of Chris.
"Thanks for the offer but I really should be getting back. Like I said I have a load of errands to run." You replied opening the door and calling Maple over with the lead in your hand.
"Well at least let me give you a ride home." Chris states without giving you the option to decline he has already grabbed his car keys and whistled for Dodger to follow.
"I guess I have no choice. Thank you." You limp towards the garage with Maple and Dodger trotting along behind you both.
Giving Chris directions back to your apartment you found that you weren't to far away from each other. When you stop in the car park below your apartment block you thank Chris again for the kind help and wish him a nice day. As you begin to exit the car he catches you off guard again.
"Can I get your number?" he asks sweetly. You look at him, his cheesey smile and wide baby blue eyes. Taking the phone from his hand you type in your number and descend from the truck with Maple following next to you.
