It was halloween. 31st of October 1979. It was storming outside. It was thundering. It was dark, and gloomy. It set the mood.

I went to my mothers for halloween. I listened to Dumbledore. And I wrote my last note. I didn't know what I was supposed to say. Other than I knew now, that I had to do something.

In just a days time, I would know where the seaside cave is. I would know where to get the locket. And I thought I knew how to destroy it. I had to catch it first.

"What are you doing, sir?" Kreecher asked, entering my room. "Why did you need me?"

"I need you to promise me something Kreecher," I said. I knew he wouldn't care who I was trying to save. So I put it as blunt as I could. "Lives depend on it."

I grabbed a piece of parchment, and my ink and quill.

To The Dark Lord,

I know I will be dead long before you read this, but I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret.

I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can. I face death in the hope that when you meet your match you will be mortal once more.

I passed it to Kreecher. He didn't dare look.

"Give it to Voldermort once i'm dead," I trembled. "No sooner, do you understand?"

He nodded.

"Guard it with your life, Kreecher." I said.

Whilst I was staying at my old home, I thought a lot about what Dumbledore had said to me. That my fate will come soon. That when I did find the Horcrux, I will be dead. I will die whilst it was being destroyed.

But I was willing to do whatever it took.

I was willing to give up my life, destroy myself, so long as the people I cared about were safe.
