I was walking to my class the next day, thinking of what Pandora had said. I knew I had to tell him I loved him, before it was too late.
Behind me I heard running, and a grab of my shoulder.
"You're such a player, you know that?" My brother sneered.
"Go away, Sirius." I sighed.
"You lied to him," Sirius scoffed. "He was convinced you loved him back."
"And you think I don't?" I snapped. "You think I let him be my first everything for the fun of it?"
Sirius didn't say anything. He let go of my shoulder.
"Of course I fucking love him. I have since we danced at the yule ball. I didn't say it back because I couldn't," I spat. "I would destroy myself for James, and that's what i'm doing."
"Tell him," Sirius said. "Please, merlin, tell him. Before it's to late."
"What do you mean before it's too late?" I asked.
"Evans asked him out," Sirius sighed. "After five years of prodding she made the first move."
"Has he said yes?" I asked. I could feel my chest thickening.
"No," Sirius said. "But if you don't tell him by tonight, he will."
"Sirius, I can't. I just-" I took a breath in. "I don't want to hurt him."
"What do you mean?" Sirius asked, concerned.
"I'll tell him." I nodded.
"Okay," Sirius agreed. "I hope all goes well."
