A/N: quick side note before I start the last three years these chapters will probably be longer and there will probably be more of them. seeming as we have jegulus coming up, reg becoming a de and the horcrux it's going to be difficult to make that into shorter chapters and less. anyways enjoy the gay angst i guess xo - am

"You're so lucky that you have a birthday so close to the start of the school year." Pandora whined.

"Sixteen is a scary age." I said, lighting a cigarette.

"That is such a bad habit," Pandora sighed. "It's not that scary, just different."

"If I don't have Potter down my neck about it, I have you." I said, putting it out.

"I'm just saying, it's not healthy." Pandora said, we started walking.

"What? And getting Dumbledore against you is?" I scoffed.

"Hey!" She said, and swatted my arm.

An owl flew towards us, it was Sirius', they gave me a piece of parchment.

"Happy big 16. Meet me in the Gryffindor common room at 8. The password is Lions Mane.

Oh and bring some cigs, Remus ran out. AND PANDORA DONT FORGET HER!

- S.O.B"

"What does it say?" Pandora snatched it.

"I hope it's not a party," I said. "I suck at parties."

"I'm invited!" She clapped. "Oh this is so exciting!"

"Again, loud and clear, I hope it's not a party." I said.

"Oh, don't be such a party pooper." Pandora sighed.

Me and Pandora spoke to the fat lady, and walked inside. The common room was quiet. It seemed reserved.

"Birthday boy is here!" James cheered, running down the stairs, "Happy birthday, baby black."

"Thanks," I smiled. "What's that nickname?"

"Baby black? I like it." James grinned with mischief in his eyes.

"Well I don't," I said. "I forbid you to say it again."

Sirius came down, Remus holding his hands.

"First of all, I know this is your day, but this is my boyfriend," He said, pointing at Remus. "Okay, back to you. I was thinking, some fire-whiskey, games. Minnie gave us the common room until one, so long as we aren't to loud. And because it's a friday. Oh and Cass and Marls are joining us."

"Sounds good," I smiled. "And finally."

Pandora giggled. She took my hand and we all seated ourselves around the fireplace.

The night was great, my best birthday yet. There was just one problem. James Fucking Potter. He was so occupied I thought he forgot I existed. His grin was wide, and his eyes sparkled. His skin looked like he was in a movie when sat next to the fire. He was truly handsome, and I was truly mesmerised.

I kept glancing at him, he caught my eye. He looked down, cleared his throat.

"I need some air," He stood. "I'll be back soon."

He left the common room. I decided I needed some air too.

"As do I," I said. "I won't be long."

I walked out of the portrait, James was leant up against the cobblestone wall, his arms and legs crossed, looking at the floor.

He noticed me. He looked back down.

"I'm sorry," I said and I walked closer to him. "I don't know what's wrong with me."

He cleared his throat, "Nothings wrong with you, baby Black."

I didn't say anything, neither did he. He looked down, I looked at him. He pushed himself off of the wall, and stepped closer to me.

He was taller than me, I reached his chest. He looked down on me.

"If you're going to stare at me the whole night, at least kiss me." He said.

He bent down, closer to my lips. I felt his breath hit my face, he smelt like fire whiskey, and butter-beer. He placed his hand on the back of my head, and he kissed me.

The kiss felt like it lasted years, and it still wasn't enough. I kissed back, I put my hands on his lower back.

He pulled away, and he grinned, "Not here. Anyone could see."

"Where then?" I asked, pulling away from him.

"Room of requirements, meet me there tomorrow at nine?" He asked.

I nodded, "For the record, Potter, I've been wanting to do that for years."

He laughed with cheek, "I bet you have."

I went to bed that night, it having been my best birthday. I had my friends, my brother. And I had kissed the boy I had fancied for years.
