Chapter 17
A WEEK LATER, she found herself admiring the nursery. She appreciated the baby blue and light pink theme of the room. She laughed when she remembered how excited and happy Munzio was when they got to know that they were having twin boys.
Munzio respected her decision when she said that she wanted to sleep separately. Marami pang kailangang ikonsedera.
Their relationship started in a wrong way that needed too many issues to be fixed. Her confusing feelings for Munzio was also hinder her from doing anything.
Sa umaga, sabay silang magbe-breakfast. He would often cook for her before he goes to work. He would be back before dinner. After dinner, he would stay with her. Sometimes they would watch romantic and comedy movies or watch filipino teleserye.
He seemed so proud about being a daddy. They even scheduled a session to a counselor to advice them what to do, expect and tips for inexperience newly parents for future parenting.
Just focus on driving.”
“How could I focus if you are peeling of my face,” Munzio said grumpily.
She stared at him wide eyed, “I’m not peeling off your face.
Daidara pouted, “Ang arte.
“Pregnant women are weird,” he grumbled, “Kanina pinaligo mo ako ng tatlong beses just because nababahuan ka sa’kin. Three times!”
“Mabaho ka naman talaga eh. Hindi namin gusto ang amoy mo. You should change your soap and shampoo,” her nose wrinkled like being disgusted.
“You didn’t make me use soap and shampoo, remember?”
Saka you insisted to come with the check-up so bear with my hormonal abnormalities.”
Daidara laughed when she he pouted like a child, “Dapat naman talagang sumama ako sa mga check-ups mo. By the way, have you picked up names?” growing excitement filled his voice that warmed her heart.
“I want to give them a unique names.”
She raised her brows questioningly, “kagaya ng?”
“Celedonia, Conchita, Roberta, Asuncion, Adelaida, Gregoria, Eduarda for girls. Kapag lalaki siguro ay Procopio, Perfecto, Aguinaldo, Apolinario or Emilio,” she stared at him in horror.
“Are you serious?! That were old names na niluma na ng panahon. Aguinaldo? Apolinario?
“I find those earlier Filipino names unique and beautiful though especially Epiphania Juanita that was my grandmother’s,” seryosong saad nito.
Alamin muna natin ang gender ng babies bago tayo mag-decide but I prefer modern names.”
He opened the door for her and stayed by her side to support her.
She felt guilty at the numerous times when she deprived him of accompanying her to her previous check-ups.
Warm smile radiating of from her doctor’s face, “Munzio! I’m glad you accompany your wife with her today’s check-up.”
I’m trying to make it up as possible. Mahirap na lalo na’t nalaki na ang mga baby ko,” she glanced Munzio as he lied easily.
Dr. Osmeña examined her vital signs and did an abdominal examination, pagkatapos ay sinabi ng doctor na normal naman ang lahat.
“Everything’s normal. Let’s move on the ultrasound room,” pinalipat siya sa ultrasound room.
The doctor started to rub ultrasound device on her belly. Munzio had this amazed, eager and happy expression on his face.
It shows form of a human baby with hands and toes.
“Base on the fetus size, you are already 19 weeks and 3 days pregnant. Everything’s normal as the babies were in good shape, “ a moment later, thundering heartbeats filled the silinced room.
“I’m so excited to hold them in my arms... “
Her heart clenched at the scene in front of her.
Then suddenly, he buried his face on his shoulder while crying. That act caught her off guard.
“I promised to be a good father to our children as I will be a good husband to you,” bulong nito sa kanya.
She didn’t expect he would be this emotional after hearing and seeing the babies for the first time.
A minute later, he straightened up and pretended like nothing happened.
Dr. Osmeña turned towards them, moved the device around and examined the monitor.
The composed and respected Munzio, crying in front of others, “Let us see.”
“Looks like you were two handsome boys just like his father.”
Boys. She’s going to give birth to two boys.
“Well, I am going to list down possible names,” She heard Munzio muttered excitedly. Tiningnan niya ito gamit ang natatarantang mata.
“Hindi! Ako na lang! Ako na ang bahala do’n.”
Munzio just smiled mischievously.
End of flashback
She smiled while reminiscing the past.
“Why are you smiling?” a pair of arms wrapped around her and she felt him nuzzled her neck and inhaled her scent. Her heart thundered at his very near presence.
“Heh! Tinatamad pa ako,” she said defensively. She doesn’t know buy she like his scent very much.
“Four more months, this room will be filled with our twin...” tila ba hindi ito makapaniwala sa mga nangyayari sa buhay nito.
“Are you ready?” kapagkuwa’y tanong niya. He looked into her eyes like reading through her.
“Are you?” balik tanong nito sa kanya. “I’m not sure,” Daidara said truthfully.
My mind was filled with doubts right now. Wala akong alam kung paano mag-alaga o magpalaki ng isang bata, dalawa pa kaya. I don’t know... I’m excited but I’m afraid.”
She’s afraid of what the future held. Masyadong komplikado ang kanilang sitwasyon. When she looked up, she saw Munzio’s face was filled with guilt, fear and sadness.
Hinawakan nito ang magbilang pisngi niy,. “We will figure this out together. I will help you. Hindi ka nag-iisa. We will help each other. I’m not sure I can be a perfect father either but I will my very best to be the best father our child could ever wish for. I brought this to us.
Her eyes burned at the sincerity of his voice, “Parenting wasn’t easy. It’s lifetime commitment and responsibility. We are not perfect.
Pinalis ni Munzio ang luhang pumatak sa kanyang pisngi, “I will make this right. Gagawin ko ang lahat to make this work.”
She tried to smile despite of tears. Inilapit nito ang mukha sa kanya at halos magdikit na ang kanilang ilong sa lapit, “I love you... “ he whispered.
I love you.
She almost melted in his intense gaze. She unknowingly bit her lower lips in anticipation.
He kissed her slow and passionately. His kiss held so much love and passion. They stared at each other too long after they separated.
The sound indicates that he received a text massage. She watched him at his face became serious.
“Bakit? May problema ba?” Daidara anxiously asked Munzio.
Daidara grows impatient, “Ano?”
“Didn’t I told you I want to make this right?”
“Oo. So ano nga? ‘Wag ka ng magpaligoy ligoy.”
He signed, “I invited your family to come over. They will be here tomorrow.”
