Mother and son

A/N so I made this a bit more modern so they have mobile phones, I wasn't going to originally but I accidentally did  and it makes it easier anyway

"Oh come on Steve! You said last week that we can have a day where it's just you and me. No one else! So that means, NO BILLY!" Dustin yells at Steve. Today was their day and Steve was trying to convince Dustin to let Billy tag along. Dustin was having none of it

"It's fine Max has been bugging me to take her and El out for the day so I'll take those two and you can have your weird mother and son day" Billy said no wanting to upset Steve's favourite of the kids.

Billy got into his car and sped off back home to pick up Max leaving the two others standing alone.

"I don't like him" Dustin states

"Oh come on Dustin your the only one I care about if you like him, you have to like him" Steve complains

"And here I thought you were the adult but your whining like a baby" the younger boy shakes his head and heads over to the car

"HEY IM NOT A BABY" the older boy yells at him

"Hm strange I heard Billy call you that too and you seemed to like it" The boy says looking thoughtful

"Oh I swear to god I'm going to kill you Henderson" he opens the car climbing in and just shakes his head when the other boy gets in too .

The two boys chatted about hair products for the entire journey. Once they arrived at the mall Steve pulled into a parking space and got out the younger boy not far behind. They went into the mall chatting about god knows what when all of a sudden Steve stopped

"Steve bud, you alright?" Dustin asked his friend

"What are we doing today?" Steve asked turning to his shorter friend

"Um. Oooooo I know! Ice cream!" Dustin jumps about heading for scoops

"Oh god no that means I have to see Robin. I hope she's not still mad" Steve mumbles to himself as he follows the other more excited boy

"Hey dingus, hey shorter dingus"Robin greets the two "what can I get for ya?"

"Hmmm can I get a chocolate double scoop with fudge sauce" Dustin says

"Of course how bout you" she turns and glares at Steve. Great she's still mad Steve thinks to himself

"Can I get a rum and raisin double scoop with sprinkles" Steve smiles at her

"Of course" she says sarcastically. As she gets their ice creams Dustin turns to talk to Steve

"Your paying right?" He smiles

"Yeah yeah I'm paying" Steve sighs "hey Rob why are you still mad that was like a week ago" Steve asks her

"I'm not mad" she shrugs "I just can't believe you left me on the floor!"

"Sorry I forgot!" Steve tries to defend. Robin passes Dustin his ice cream and he says a small thank you as she begins to get Steve's. Dustin just watches them argue like it's an amazing tv show. They argue until Steve is given his ice cream

"Ok fine I'll forgive you. Buuuuuttttt I want an apology from your boyfriend!" She says

"Shhhhhhhhhhh fine fine I'll get him to apologise" Steve says trying to shush her. He decides to text Billy just in case he goes there today. Robin smiles at her success and shooes the boys away. They make their way into a few shops just looking around.

"Hey Max told me Billy's birthday is soon" Dustin says "are you looking for his present?"

"Huh? oh I completely forgot! Thanks for reminding me, he would have killed me!" Steve exclaims

"You should get him this" Dustin says pointing to a pair of dangling golden spike earrings

"Hmm those are nice" Steve examines them before picking them up "ok I'll remember to tell him you picked them out" To that Dustin smiles, proud of himself.

After a bit of shopping they had a couple of shirts Dustin got a bracelet and Steve got an necklace. The two of them headed for the car putting everything they bought in the back.

"So where to next?" Steve asks

"Hmm. Oh I know! Let's go ice skating!" Dustin says cheerfully. Steve just nods and starts the car heading for the ice skating rink. When they arrive Steve gets them their ice skates and they head onto the ice

"So would now be a bad time to tell you I've never been ice skating" Steve asks as he grips onto the railing like his life depends on it

"It's not that hard just don't fall" The younger boy says as he gracefully glides across the ice.

"Easy for you to say" Steve mumbles.

After a few minutes of Dustin trying to teach Steve how to ice skate, the older boy was finally getting the hang of not falling over every two seconds

"Look Dustin I'm doing it!" Steve exclaims happily, right before crashing into someone and falling over.
