More than research [Al-An X Reader]

Amazement and jealousy

(( EEEEEEEE I have no idea what to do for this chapter DX  XP Why do I keep fucking my self over with my earlier chapters. I need to think things out more XD I just sit down everyday and write whatever I feel like, I don't understand why all y'all like this shit ._. Anyways ENJOY~ ))

You had finally moved your base down to the lily pads biome after a week of nonstop work. You flopped down in your bed exhausted, you still had things to do. Al-An and Riley had made a deal that Riley would tell Al-An what Alterra was up to and Riley was allowed to ask as many questions as he wanted about Al-An.

You heard heavy footsteps in your moonpool, signalising that Al-An had entered the base. Al-An had been very clingy lately. Al-An lied down in your base next to you. "Tired?" Al-An asked looking over to you. "Very" you responded flipping over and using Al-An as a pillow. Despite being made of metal he was a very good pillow. 

"You know we still have to meet Riley today" Al-An said in a sympathetic voice. You groaned not wanting to move or get up. Yes, Riley was your idol and you wanted to meet him really badly but you were just so tired. 

Al-An sighed and before you could react Al-An had picked you up bridal style and was carrying you to your seatruck. "Nooooo..." you whined trying to get out of Al-An's grip, not succeeding at all. You faked crying and flailed around like a little child making Al-An laugh.

You felt your cheeks heat up as you heard him laugh. His laugh was so deep and warm. You couldn't think anymore of it before Al-An plopped you down in your seatruck seat. Luckily you already had everything you needed in the storage compartment of your seatruck.  

You groaned as you connected your storage module to the main seatruck, not wanting to go to the freezing glacial basin where Alterra had fixed the old bases. You, Al-An and Riley where going to meet in the old Architect mine which apparently Al-An and Riley had fixed together. 

You almost feel asleep driving over to the basin as Al-An was following you swimming right next to you seatruck. 

You had put on your coldsuit as you stepped out of your seatruck being met with a glowing Al-An. His lights really stood out in the snowstorm. Unluckily for you snowstorms were the best weather meet Riley in and get updates on Alterra since they couldn't keep track on Riley through the storm. 

Al-An basically dragged you over the ice as you were to tired to walk. It didn't help that you had to walk very slowly either, maybe you had woken up if you got to run but no the ice worms had to get angry at that. You wished you had a snowfox at this point even though you couldn't have used it. 

You had finally made it to the mine and you were in awe at all the beautiful crystals around. You were ripped out of your trance by the sound of footsteps coming into the cave.

You were getting to know Riley and Al-An noticed you looked a bit uncomfortable. You kept shifting and messing with your hair and fingers. Your heartbeat also increased. Al-AN didn't know why you were acting like this but he felt an odd sensation build up inside him. 

For some odd reason he just wanted you away from Riley. Al-An tried to shove it away but it didn't really work. 

There wasn't anything wrong with Riley. Riley saved Al-An's kind thinking bad about him would be disrespectful and just awful. Al-An felt himself getting more and more agitated and he excused himself to go outside and try to figure this out. You seemed a bit upset that Al-An was leaving you alone but Al-An went out anyways.

Al-AN sat down on a rock and started thinking looking out over the glacial basin. He loved having human eye sight.

You were getting a bit anxious as Al-An left. It was like getting stuck with the friend's friend. You hadn't noticed until now how bad you had gotten with social interaction due to all the time you spent alone looking for Robin. It didn't help that you were scared of making a fool out of yourself in front of the guy you had been looking up to for so long.

Meeting Riley was great and he was funny and chill but you were kind of intimidated. You couldn't help but think back to all the things he did when he was stuck on 4546B. He even killed a Sea Dragon. You had also heard he was extremely good with piloting P.R.A.W.N suits. That he could fly through the water with the suit only using a grappling hook. The method had been banned my Alterra since they thought it was too dangerous and they didn't want even more blood on their hands. You would have to ask Riley for a lesson in P.R.A.W.N piloting some time.

After a little while you finally calmed down, being able to talk without stuttering. You had found out Riley was just a normal guy, even though he was a leviathan killer. As you calmed mo0re down and started to see Riley as a new buddy rather than the great and brutal person the internet had made him out to be you couldn't help but think a bit about Al-An.

Why did Al-An leave? Did you do something? Did Riley do something? Was it this place? Did he just have a headache? Can he even get headaches?

You started getting worried for him. It seemed like Riley noticed your worry. "Hey, you good?" Riley asked, noticing how you kept looking toward the entrance of the cave. "Yeah, I'm just a bit worried for Al-An. He usually doesn't just leave conversations like that. I definitely didn't expect him to leave a conversation with the one who saved his kind" you explained. "He doesn't tell me why but he refuses to talk about the Khaara virus and is eternally grateful that it is gone" you finished. 

(( EEE finally after a week I found out how to end this chapter XD Al-An is very clueless when it comes to emotions and that's fun to play around with :P But now idk how to start the next chapter ._. Why am I like this? Anyways enough complaining hope you enjoyed and I'll start with the next chapter right now :D ))
