Third Person's POV

The sky was painted orange because of the setting sun. Hyejin was sitting on the backseat of the car nonchalantly watching the city lights.

Everything was just so messy for her. Her mother finally decided to show up after God knew for how long and there was Jaehyun behaving like that. She was mind blown, confused what to think first.

Getting near to her apartment, she buffed the small strands of hair on her face and dried her welling eyes. Would there be at least a small change? Impossible. After seeing her mother texts, it was impossible.

"Thank you." She got off the car after paying and looked up to the ten story apartment in front of her. It was still a puzzle how her mother found out that place. Oh well, she could be really good if she wants something.

Hyejin got in the elevator with trembling hands. Trains of thoughts were parading inside her mind. What exactly her mother need from her? Would she go and try to get everything she worked hard for? Whatever it was, Hyejin was certain that her mom was after something. Not for her but something.

The chilly breeze gently blew as she halted herself from walking. Goosebumps crept on her exposed skin while standing in the hallway, eyes fixated to the elderly woman standing outside her apartment room.

Agitated. That was how her mother looked like while waiting for her arrival.

Sudden wave of emotions caused her to gasp for air, it was tightening her lungs. With just a sight of the person she wanted to hate the most, all the memories came crashing her mind. None of them was good! Everything was just about Hyejin purely struggling because of someone who supposedly be the one taking care of her but ended up traumatizing her.

Despite the damaged that her mom implanted onto her life, Hyejin wanted to smack the living hell out of her for still having a desperate longing for a mother's touch even though she knew it was impossible.

She took a deep breath and began walking again. Each steps were getting heavier the more the distance between them shorten.

Finally taking a notice of her daughter's precense, their eyes met and locked them together intently sending the contracting emotions they feel for each other.

The younger swallowed hard. While her eyes were conveying all the pain and fear, her mother was looking back at her with so much greed and disgust.

Hyejin once again took a deep breath trying to release the tension building up inside. She was gathering all the courage left in her already tired body and mind. She then parted her lips to ask something but before she could even let her voice out, Hyejin was slapped.

Her mom's hand landed strongly on her left cheek making her turn her head and face the side.

A glint of shock was evident on her eyes and as soon as she realized what just happened, it did not take long for her tears to roll down her face again. They were falling down so fast giving her a blurry sight.

Her shaking cold hand travelled up to hold her stinging cheek. She then looked up to her unbelievably while slowly taking small steps backwards with her wobbling knees.

What did she even do?

Her mom really knew how to get her mentally, emotionally, and physically tired. Yet again, she felt miserable.

Hyejin went there to meet up without expecting anything good to happen but heck, she was not expecting things would turn out like that!
