Cal entered The Wreck and smiled once she saw John B and Kie dancing. She saw the way that Pope was looking at the girl, she knew that he wished it was him dancing with her instead.

She snuck up behind the boy and covered his eyes, she noticed the way that he didn't even flinch, probably because he knew it was her. She wasn't exactly quiet saying hello to Mr C when she entered the building.

"Why so glum, chum?" She questioned, allowing her arms to drop loosely around Pope's neck.

Pope just motioned over to John B and Kie, making the girl feel bad for the boy. She let go of a sigh and pulled away from him. She placed her hand out in front of the boy and gave him a playful smirk.

The boy didn't exactly feel in the mood for dancing, but he couldn't say no to the girl. He hadn't met anyone who was able to say no to Cal. She could be very persuasive.

She pulled Pope up to where John B and Kie were dancing, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and began to sway side to side with him. He could smell the alcohol on her breath and noticed the cuts on her face, but he didn't question it. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable, so instead he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into him.

Pope always felt protective of Cal, despite her probably been tougher than he was. She was like the sister that he never had and he hated keeping secrets from her.

JJ had made the group promise not to tell Cal about the gold, just because he didn't want to get her hopes up about getting out of the OBX. He didn't want her to feel like they could get free from their dad if they couldn't.

The blonde boy turned and looked at his sister, he could tell from the way her shoulders were slouched that she was drunk, but he wondered where she got the alcohol from and who she got drunk with. He stood up from his seat and walked over to the girl, he tapped her shoulder, making her turn and face him.

Cal saw the way that JJ's smile dropped once he saw the cuts. She quickly covered her face with her hair and pulled away from Pope. She was going to make an excuse, come up with some reason as to why she deserved the hits, but before she said anything, JJ grabbed her bicep and pulled her away from the others.

"What did he do this time?" JJ's eyes softened as he looked at his sister. She was his whole world and he hated that he couldn't protect her.

"Nothing that I didn't deserve, J." Cal attempted to reassure the boy. She had quickly sobered up now that they were talking about their dad.

JJ's jaw clenched his jaw at his sister. She didn't deserve it. They both deserved better than the father that they got. Luke shouldn't treat them the way that he does.

"You don't deserve this, Cal." JJ whispered, placing his hand on her shoulder, knowing how she felt right now. The red head just shrugged, it wouldn't happen to her if she didn't deserve it. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Cal wet her bottom lip, her eyes darted to the pogues, who were all still dancing with smiles on their faces. She didn't want to ruin their night by pulling JJ away to talk to her about their dad.

"It wasn't important. I can handle it, JJ." Cal looked up at the boy, crossing her arms as she did so.

JJ just chuckled in response, he didn't mean to, it just came out. He hated when his sister was the subject of their fathers violence. She shouldn't have to 'handle it'.

"If that we're true, we wouldn't be in this predicament." JJ spoke softly. Cal rolled her eyes at her brothers attitude. "Who we're you with tonight? Why were you drinking?"

"Look, JJ, I know that dad's shit, but that doesn't mean you can grill me about my whereabouts and who I was with just because he doesn't." Cal raised her brows.

The boy didn't seem impressed by his sisters remark. He had to step up and know where she was at all times because she was his younger sister. She was his twin. He had to protect her because no one else had.

"Luke doesn't care about us, Callista." JJ whispered, not exactly wanting the pogues to hear, although both Maybank siblings knew that they knew exactly what happened at home. "All we have is each other, so forgive me if I worry about you from time to time."

"Sorry, alright?" Cal ran her hand over her face. "You shouldn't have to worry about me, J." She felt guilty that her brother tried to take on such a father role when he was only a few minutes older than her.

"But I do, so next time, tell me where you are please." JJ's eyes softened ever so slightly.

Cal hesitate a moment, wondering how pissed off JJ would he if he found out about Rafe and hers relationship. He was the main reason that they couldn't tell anyone. It was risky enough that Sarah knew, if anyone else found out, all hell would break loose.

"Okay." Cal nodded in agreement, she didn't want him to worry and come looking for her, and inevitably find her with Rafe.

John B rushed over to the girl, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her off the ground, making her let go of a small squeal as he span her around.

A smile etched its way onto her face as he placed her down and both of them began swaying side to side. She glanced towards JJ, who was watching them both with a smile.

The pogues were his family.
