See You Again

A Step Forward

Two months later

Joe POV

When we flew into Florida for the next show it was no brainer to ask Sam to stay at my home with me, it only seemed fair since I had spent time at her place. It also gave us some proper time together without interruptions from the twins, Jey was at home with his family and Jimmy and Trin were at their home.

It also gave me a break from constantly looking over my shoulder, ever since the phone call from Hannah the twins and I had been constantly looking out for that jackass to make sure he didn't get to Sam, so far there was no sign of him and I knew he wouldn't find her here.

Parking up on the driveway I get out of the car and head round to open Sam's door for her, as she steps out she gazes around at the property and then at me.

"This is your home?" she asks and I nod "Joe it's beautiful"

"You haven't seen inside yet" I smile "but I'm glad you like it"

I grab our bags from the trunk and take her hand as I guide her into the house, I give her a brief tour as I lead her to the bedroom to put our bags away, I place our bags at the far side of the room and then pull her into my arms intending to make to most of us being alone.

I press my lips gently against hers but just as I begin to deepen the kiss the doorbell rings.

"I'll get it, you make yourself at home" I say pecking her lips before leaving the room.

Reaching the front door I pull it open to find my mother standing there, I don't get chance to say anything before she pulls me into a tight hug.

"Hey mum, I thought we agreed I'd call you before you came over" I chuckle

"I didn't want to wait a minute longer to see you" she says "I didn't get to see you when you last had down time, so where is she?" she asks with a smile

"Here's the thing, I haven't spoken to her yet about meeting you and I don't if she's ready for that" I say

"Say no more, I understand I will leave you two to it" she smiles "but I hope I get to meet her while you're here"

"Tell you what wait here and I'll go talk to her" I say "see if she'll come down"

Heading up the stairs I was nervous as hell, I knew my mum was keen to meet her but at the same time I hadn't wanted to spring it on her like this. I had wanted to sit her down and talk to her about it and if she wasn't ready we would have waited until next time.

"Jey or Jimmy?" She laughs as I enter the room

"Neither, erm it's my mum and she would really like to meet you" I say nervously "If you're not ready that's fine, I'll get her to go and we can do it when you are ready"

Sam POV

I couldn't help but smile at Joe, he was really cute when he got nervous. I loved that we was thinking of me and putting me first but the idea of meeting his mum didn't seem to phase me that much. I knew how important his family were to him especially his mum.

Walking over to him I take his hand in mine and smile

"I'd love to meet her" I say and he instantly relaxes

"Are you sure?" he asks "I don't want you to feel like you have to, I want you to be ready to do this"

"I'm sure Joe, I'm ready to meet her" I say and he tightens his hand around mine

Joe leads me out of the room and when he gets to the top of the staircase he stops and looks at me. I give him small reassuring nod and we start to walk down the stairs, my eyes fall on a slim blonde haired woman and I know straight away it's his mum because they look so much alike.

"Mum this is Sam" Joe smiles "Sam this is my mum Patricia"

"It's lovely to finally meet you" his mum says hugging me and taking me by surprise "he talks about you all the time"

"It's nice to meet you too" I say hugging her back "he talks about you a lot too"

"I'm sorry for my impatience I just couldn't wait to meet the girl who put the smile back on his face" she beams "I'm glad you two found each other, he needed some one like you"

"you and me both" I say smiling at Joe and he kisses my forehead "I think we came into each others lives at just the right time"

"She's a keeper Joe" she says smiling up at him "right I will leave you two to it but you must come for dinner before you leave, meet the rest of the family" she says

"I'd love to" I smile "I'll make sure we do"

Joe and his mum hug and say their goodbyes and once she leaves he turns and pulls me into his arms kissing the top of my head.

"Thankyou" he says "but you don't have to meet the rest of them if you don't want to, don't let her push you into it"

"I want to meet them" I say resting my head against his chest "I'm ready, for this step at least"

"Alright, but we take it at your pace and if it gets to be too much we can leave" he says "I want you to be happy and comfortable with the situation"

"I'll be fine as long as you are with me" I smile "I can handle anything if you're there"

"I'll be right by your side the whole time" he smiles "every step you are ready to take we will take it together"
