Sam POV

"You need to leave" I say closing the door but Jake puts his foot in the way stopping me from doing so.

"Sam I know you don't want me back, I've accepted that" he says "but you need to know the truth about the man you're with"

"What are you talking about?" I ask re opening the door

"We may not be together but I still care about you" he says "so I got my guy to look into him becuase I wanted to make sure he was going to treat you right, and I found out some things that you need to know"

Out of fear of what he had found and against my better judgement  I allow Jake to come into the house closing the door behind him.

"What did you find?" I ask

"Well first there is this" he says handing me a sheet of paper which I see is a marriage certificate

"I know he's been married, he's divorced now" I say handing it back to him

"That's what he told you, but Sam honey there is no record of a divorce, he's still married, he has another home in Tampa that he shares with her"

"That's it? That's all you have" I say looking at him in disbelief "Jake I want you to leave and stop wasting my time"

"That's not all Sam, he also found this" he says handing me more papers.

As I scan through them I see they are text conversations between Joe and seemingly other women. "You're not the only woman he is seeing" he says as I continue to read "there are several, you're just another bit on the side to him".

I couldn't believe what I was hearing or seeing, could it really be possible that Joe, my Joe, the man who had told me everyday that he loved me, that he wasn't Jake and would never hurt me was actually worse than Jake?

As I continue to read I feel my heart slowly shatter, unable to take anymore I hand the papers back to Jake and look at him.

"Wait here" I say "I'm going to pack my stuff and then I'd like you to take me home"

"I'm so sorry Sam" he says giving my hand a squeeze

"Don't be" I say "thank you for telling me, I'm glad I found out now before I made a huge mistake"

Joe POV

I had been trying to call Sam for the last 20 minutes but for some reason she wasn't answering. At first I thought she had maybe fallen asleep or she was in the shower but the longer this went on the more worried I got.

"Jimmy, Jey" I call out as the walk into the locker room "are you need tonight?"

"No why? What's wrong big uce?" Jimmy asks

"I need you to go to my place and check on Sam" I say "she's not answering her phone, I'm worried"

"She's probably asleep uce but we'll go check" Jey says patting my shoulder before leaving.

I really hope thats all it is, I mean he couldn't have got to her, could he?

Sam POV

By the time we got to the airport Joe and been calling my phone non stop but I had ignored every call. I needed time to process everything before I could even think about talking to him.

He had lied to me, he had made false promises and allowed me to fall in love with him knowing he didn't feel the same way.

"Are you ok?" Jake asks taking my hand

"Not really" I sigh "I love him Jake, I love him so much and it hurts so bad"

"Trust me I didn't want to find this" he says "I wanted him to be a good guy, I wanted you to be happy, but I couldn't let him do this to you"

"I know and I'm grateful to you for coming all this way to tell me" I say "maybe this is a sign that I am better off on my own"

"That's not true" he says "he might not love you but I do, I know I messed up, Liv was a mistake, I promise you if you give me another chance I won't ever hurt you again, please Sam, come back to me"

"Alright" I say and he smiles "but I'm going to need some time to get over this"

"Take all the time you need" he says

Joe POV

I literally had ten minutes before I had to go out for my match and I was pacing around my locker room. When my phone finally rang I couldn't answer it fast enough.

"Jey, is she alright?" I ask

"She ain't here uce" he sighs "she's gone, her stuff is gone, no note nothing"

"Gone what do you mean gone?" I ask feeling my my heart sink and my stomach drop

"It looks like she's left you uce" Jimmy says "there's some paper work on the side here, your marriage certificate and what looks like text conversions from your phone"

"No no no this is not happening" I say "he got to her, the fucker got to her, I need you to go to the airport and stop her, please before it's too late"

"We're on our way uce" Jey says "we'll call you when we find her"

Ending the call I felt like the bottom had dropped out of my world, the one thing I was afraid of had actually happened, he had some how convinced her to leave me.
But if he thought I was going to give her up without a fight he had another thing coming.
