Think of it as a baby's first step

Taehyun's life went back to normal. His random days of training in volleyball was back in his schedule as the litmus competition ended.

Fortunately, their choir club won gold while their rotary won silver. But as expected, their dance club earned nothing that made him feel disappointed but not surprised.

He was used to winning the dance category but what can he do? It's not like the other members except for the four of them exerted 100% of their effort.

Speaking of the four of them, his seniors, Soobin and Yeonjun got scouted by the winning school hence leaving Taehyun, Huening Kai, and Beomgyu alone at the cafeteria for weeks.

He's not gonna lie, it was a bit awkward. Yeonjun and Soobin were usually the one talking to Beomgyu but now, the older was left to their company.

It's not that Beomgyu was being ignored. In fact, it was him being left out of the conversation. He doesn't want to join in, that's why.

Kai and Beomgyu chat about random things, sometimes the two try to pull Taehyun in the conversation by asking him some questions. He was indifferent though and the two undoubtedly noticed that.

Well, nothing is helping him to warm up to the older completely. Since the competition just ended a week ago, his and Beomgyu's deal about the fun thing still hasn't started yet.

Taehyun wonders if the older really meant it when he said he'll help him with his concern about being too uptight to himself.

He knows he shouldn't be thinking about that, he wasn't really into that idea at first so he shouldn't feel hopeful at all. After all, it's not like it should matter, right?

But still, his curiosity gets into him. He wonders how fun the older's life is and he's about to get dragged into that. Is he scared? Yes. But he still feels a bit excited nonetheless, and disappointed since it's like Beomgyu forgot about that deal and left Taehyun with his bits of hope.

Well, guessing that's why he's a bit awkward and sulky around Beomgyu.

Taehyun propped his chin on his palm as he rested his elbow on the table while he read the book he brought at the cafeteria with him, as per usual, trying to ignore the two boy's presence. The two chatty friends noticed Taehyun's sulky look so Huening Kai tapped him on his shoulder.

"Are you ok, Taehyun?" The youngest asked with concern.

Taehyun took a glance at him and gave him a simple nod as an answer. He was about to go back from reading his book until the eldest at the table spoke.

"It seems like you're still not into the idea of me hanging out with you two. Are you really ok with me being here? I thought we're friends already." Beomgyu said, jutting a pout. His upset mood was visible on his face.

Taehyun gave him a quick glance before he put his gaze back on his book, it was just a second but the disappointment that was displayed on his eyes got noticed by the older.

I thought we were too, the thought lingers at the back of the younger’s mind.

"What's wrong with you?" Beomgyu asked, a hint of perplexity and irritation mixed in his tone.

Taehyun didn't respond to his question and the younger's childish action just made him shake his head in dismay.

"I don't get you at all."

"I'm not trying to make you get me." Taehyun finally opened his mouth but of course, what did Beomgyu expect? Never a normal response.

He was about to reply to the snarky remark but Taehyun put on his earbuds to avoid talking to the older, continuing to read his book without giving Beomgyu a glance.
