What... just happened?
Staring at the off-white ceiling, Beomgyu found himself unable to move for a few minutes on his bed after rolling around to get some of his deserved rest. He spaced out, replaying the earlier scenes inside of his head as he tried to comprehend if he was just making things up inside of his mind or did it really happen.
And once again, snapping out of his trance, if only the bed sheet and mattress could complain it already did from how much Beomgyu rolled around in the span of 3 hours. He rolls again on his stomach, hugging his pillow to control his racing thoughts, his blanket almost out of his bed. His eyes were wide awake despite the tiredness seeping inside of his body. But how could he sleep if he still felt the tension he idiotically created hours ago? He couldn't believe what he just did, confessing out of the blue and by mistake.
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
The repeating chant in his head formed a blush on his cheek, feeling humiliated and shameful from the incident. He shifted again to his back once more, unable to count how many times he did it, he took his pillow and pressed it on his face to create a muffled groan.
"Uggghhhh! You are so the most corny and stupidest person ever, Choi Beomgyu! What do you mean 'I like you too', you're the lamest unromantic person ever!" Hitting his mattress with full force using his clenched fist, he kicked his feet like a baby on a tantrum, followed by another set of frustrated muffled groans.
He felt a small tear forming at the corner of his eyes and removed the fluffy pillow that's hiding his face to wipe it. His mind refuses to forget how Taehyun swiftly turned his head to look at him with full shock and confusion on his face. The way the younger asked him for clarification and how he pathetically tried to lie out of it. And the way he stuttered and his full face flushing deep red like a madman didn't help.
"What?"
The dead silence and the freezing breeze passed through sending shivers down Beomgyu's spine. All the hair on his arms stood up like a startled cat when he finally realized what he had just said.
Did I just confess?
"Huh? Did I say something? I didn't say anything."
He tried acting clueless, forcing himself to smile, but the underlying nervousness of his twitching lips and shaking eyeballs– unable to maintain eye contact, earned a scrunched brow from the younger. He took a step back when Taehyun stepped towards him like a predator ready to eat his prey.
"Hyung."
"What?" Beomgyu squeaked, his feet automatically stepping backwards while he felt his knees buckling from the cold and fright.
"Don't lie." Another step.
"I'm not lying. Yo- you must be imagining things! You know, maybe we should go home, I bet you're tired and–"
"Don't even try to gaslight me into this, I know what I heard." And a few more steps back. Beomgyu started to feel fear for his life despite the lack of edge on Taehyun's tone. He could see the slight curve forming on the younger's lips as if he's enjoying cornering Beomgyu like a high school girl about to experience a kabedon.
Oh god he's really screwed. Taehyun must have heard it loud and clear and he's just messing with Beomgyu at the moment. He didn't know what to actually feel. The embarrassment flooding in his system and the fear of the younger actually making fun of his feelings overtakes him. He felt like his skin was starting to pale and flush red at the same time.
He doesn't have any idea how to save himself anymore other than to deny what he just said, and so that's what he did.
"I– I didn't mean it, I swear it just slipped ou— aahhh!"
