Drained souls and dragging steps, visible black circles around the eyes that once were the home of stars– almost like the galaxy itself, shining brightly and beautifully, now voided and empty.

The prim and proper boy who always went to school the earliest was walking on the pavement near the campus, hair uncombed and his uniform not yet buttoned up, revealing his crumpled plain white undershirt.

If it's not yet visible enough, his left eye twitching and brows furrowed as early as 6:45 AM would speak for itself.

Taehyun is damn stressed right at the first day of their second semester because darn that History quiz last month. If only he kept it hidden safely under his mattress, then maybe his mom wouldn't have to see it and punish him by confiscating his phone and books then making him study that particular lesson during the last 2 days of his summer vacation.

It wasn't his fault he almost messed it up. It happens. It's normal. He didn't mean to blank out that time from lack of sleep and skipped a whole back page of the quiz paper. It wasn't intentional. Yet of course, she just had to ruin Taehyun's last days of rest.

Absent-mindedly walking towards the campus– his body already automatically generated to do so, entered the school gate and glanced at the wall clock in the guard stall. Surprisingly, he's 10 minutes early. Nearly late but hey! At least he's still early for his own good.

Reaching his classroom, Taehyun immediately sat down and dropped his bag on the side, opting to take a short nap while he ignored all the commotion inside and outside of the 4-cornered room. He checked the time on his phone and saw he still had 7 minutes left before assembly so he took the opportunity and quickly drifted off to sleep as his body screamed rest.

His exhaustion was about to engulf him as his body slumped harder on his desk like a puddle of jelly melting under the sun, not until the school bell rang for the flag ceremony to start off the week.

Taehyun couldn't help but release a groan then curse under his breath from the interruption, but as much as he wanted to stay inside of their room and just continue his nap because no students wanted to listen to their principal's speech early in the morning, he still got off his chair to head down to the gym, rolling his eyes hard for that's the only way to express his distress.

Dragging his own feet and body towards the designated location, his steps wobbled from lack of sleep and the impact of someone jumping on his back. He guesses, it's Beomgyu, right? It can't be Hyuka, he said he won't be attending school on their first day, his father needed a helping hand.

"I made it." Said the guy while heaving for air.

"Good morning to you too and you're still technically late, the school bell rang already." Taehyun deadpanned.

"Still made it to the ceremony." And a huge grin greeted him face to face while the arms around the younger's shoulder remained resting on his already heavy body.

The usual prim and proper Taehyun would dread to be at the back of the line. There, where most of the rowdy students and particularly latecomers are placed to keep the front rows quiet and disciplined.

He hates the loud noises they make as it never fails to make his head hurt so seeing him in the back would be as rare as finding a living and breathing leprechaun. Yet here he was, right beside Beomgyu at the very back. Avoiding the curious eyes to be directed to him as his current appearance is not the best to flaunt at the front.

"Wow... You look like shit Taehyun, and you're at the back of the line with me." Beomgyu's eyes scanned the grumpy boy beside him as he received a low growl and a scowl with his arms crossed on his chest, back humping like he's carrying the whole world's biggest problem.
