It was finally my favorite time of year, Autumn! But, of course, fall has always been my favorite season. I love to watch the leaves change color, and the colder weather gives me a better excuse to stay in and read a book with some warm tea. I wasn't a huge coffee drinker, tea being my primary energy source; I usually drink a cup in the morning and another at night.

Cody, my boyfriend, was finally home from filming and we were going out tonight. I had on a simple pair of jeans, my ankle boots, and a sweater. My hair was in its natural form, which usually never makes an appearance but, why not? He always said how much he liked my natural hair, so; I figured that since I hadn't seen him in 3 days, I'd do something he wanted.

I heard a knock on my door and smiled, opening it to reveal Cody with the biggest smile on his face.

"Hey," I said, taking in his appearance. He was wearing a tan, long-sleeve shirt, jeans, and his black Adidas, typical Cody clothing.

"Hi. I missed you," Cody said, pulling me in for a hug.

"I missed you too. Are you ready?" I asked, grabbing my purse and keys.

"I wanted to give you something first. If that's okay?" Cody asked, his eyes showing a bit of worry and nervousness.

"Yeah," I smiled and closed the door behind him after he stepped inside.

"So, I saw this at the store the other day. I went with Tyler and Dylan to look for things for their girlfriends. I saw this, and I promise you that it's not what you think it means. They got rings for their girlfriends, and I thought that maybe I should get you one too," Cody explained, reaching into his pocket. He pulled out a small, black box and opened it.

Inside was the most beautiful silver ring I had ever seen. There was an emerald in the center, my birthstone.

"Cody," I sighed and gazed between him and the ring.

"We've been together for a year and a half now, and I want to make you a promise. We're too young to be engaged, and we're both on the same page about that. We always have been. However, I feel like I should still do something to show you that I want to stay with you forever before we're ready to take the next step. I love you, and I want you to wear this as a symbol of that promise," Cody smiled.

"Will you accept my promise?" He asked.

"Yes, 100 percent, yes," I smiled. Cody stepped towards me and placed the ring on my ring finger on my right hand; based on superstition, if you wear your promise ring on the same finger that your engagement ring would go on, it's bad luck.

"Do you like it?" Cody asked.

"Cody, It's Beautiful. Thank you," I smiled and wrapped my arms around him. He smelled of pine and amber, my favorite smell that he frequently wore. It was musky and warm, making me feel safe and like I was at home.

"Good. I was so worried you wouldn't like it," Cody said, running a hand through his hair.

"You ready?"

"mhmm. Let's go," I said, grabbing Cody's hand and leading him out the door.
