I never thought I would be one of those women you would call a 'cougar'. I never really found young men attractive in that way. However, when I met Cody, yeah Cody Christian, something changed. He wasn't a player and didn't care about age and didn't have as much baggage (ex-girlfriends)  as the guys my age did. I am 33 years old and Cody is 23 and that would not go well if anyone, especially his fans found out. 

We have been dating secretly for about 6 months now and I am surprised no one has found out yet. Granted I'm very happy that Cody and I have been able to be happy for the last few months, part of me wanted the world to know. However, I know a lot of people aren't accepting of older women and younger men being together, that's just how it is. 

This morning, I woke up and my phone was blowing up with notifications. I looked down at my phone and was genuinely terrified. I immediately called Cody. 

"Hey babe, what's up?" he asked.

"Who did you tell?" I immediately asked. 

"What are you talking about?" he asked. 

"Cody who did you tell? Did you tell anyone about us?" I asked, rushed. 

"No babe. The only people I've told are my family. I wouldn't tell anyone else unless you were okay with it. Why? What's wrong?" he asked. 

"Your fans found out and I have been getting non-stop hate comments and messages all morning," I said. 

"Hold on. I'll be right over. Don't answer any of them." he said and hung up the phone. 

I continued to read through the comments and my heart broke with every single one I read. They said things like:

leave him alone  you bitch

you filthy whore

you're too old for him, go find someone your own age bitch

and countless others. Some of them even said that I should die and that Cody is too good for me. That is the only one I could immediately agree with. I have no idea why Cody picked me out of all the youthful girls that were throwing themselves at him.

I heard a knock on my door and it opened, Cody strolling in. 

"Baby where are you?" he yelled.

"In the bedroom," I yelled back. 

He came walking in and immediately kissed me. 

"Please, do not listen to them. You are amazing," he whispered.

"Cody, they're telling me I should kill myself," I said. 

"How do you want to go about this? As of right now, it's just a rumor cause neither of us has confirmed it. So we can either do one of two things. Option one is basically just confirming that we're together and just ignoring their comments. Or option two is to just continue to pretend that we aren't together and keeping it a secret." he said. 

I knew I had to pick on but I wish I could choose neither, but neither would mean leaving Cody and I love him. 

"Let's just tell them, Cody. They aren't gonna stop either way, so might as well just let it be out there." I said. I wasn't sure if I was ready for what that would bring, but I can handle it. 

"Okay, them come here." he smiled and snapped a picture of us kissing. 

"How about that one?" he asked. 

I smiled and nodded, "Definitely." and he kissed me again.

I got a notification that he posted and looked at the picture and smiled. 

He captioned it with:

I'm happiest when I'm with you <3 For everyone sending this beautiful woman hate, please stop. Age doesn't matter to me. I love her. Please respect that.

My heart fluttered and I kissed him again. 

"Just let me know if they have anything else to say and I'll personally message them myself." he smiled. 

"Thank you baby, I love you." I smiled. 

"I love you more."
