Prologue

A child's head lay in her lap.

"Miss L/n, why are you leaving?"

"Who told you I was leaving, Kotoko?"

"Masaru!"

She shook her head gently, smiling softly at the pink-haired girl. She ran her fingers through the girl's hair, taking in how soft it was.

"Well, Masaru must have misunderstood my conversation. I'm not leaving, I was just accepted into a very good high school. I won't be stopping my work here anytime soon, don't you fret."

"Really? Did you get into that big high school with the important people Miss Natsuki tells us about?"

"Hope's Peak? That's the one, Koto. I'm now officially known as the Ultimate Assistant!"

"Woah! I hope I get into Hope's Peak like you! I wanna be... the Ultimate Princess!"

The young woman smiled, stroking Kotoko's hair.

"One day, Kotoko. Now, it's time for you to get some rest. Let's get you tucked in."
