History of You and Me

Chapter 8

As I got into his room I looked around and.. it was boring

"How long have you lived here?"
I ask
"Almost a year"
He says closing the door
"Its.. plain"
I judge
"What my gray couch and black coffee table arent enough for you?"
He jokes and I look at him with an unamused look but break into a smile
"There's no decoration. Not even a throw pillow"
"I never styled a home before dee-dee"

I sit down on his couch and pat the seat next to me "come sit"
He walks over and sits down close beside me
There's silence at first before he breaks it by saying
"You don't even get how much I missed you.. I-I thought I was never going to see you again"

My mouth drops open. Sweetest thing I've ever heard someone say to me
"Buck-"
I cant even finish my sentence without reaching out for him and wrapping him in a hug.
When we move away from the hug our faces are close together. We look each other in the eyes and the urge to kiss him overtakes me. My hand lingers on his shoulder. Feeling as though I'd finally do the thing I've wanted to do for so long. Then he leans in and I lean in then
Moment ruined.
He clears his throat and scoots back to the corner of the couch
"So- uh- have you tried that um- that online dating.. stuff?"
He asks trying to sit normally but looks obviously uncomfortable
"Um...It's weird- I'm not very sure on new phone as a whole. They're.. odd it's all odd.."
"But online dating- Weird pictures on there"
He has a look of disgust thinking back to those pictures
"Really?"
I chuckle and he nods

Then my phone rings. It takes me a second to notice it's my phone. I flip open my phone and see it's from Dahlia.
"I'm gonna go take this"
I tell him and walk over to the door
"Hi dahlia"
I say quietly
"Wha- 'hi dahlia'? Where are you!"
She says with disgusts and very loud
"Wow ok-breathe-"
"No. Answer me. Where the hell are you!"

I look over to Bucky who had been watching me but looked away when I looked at him.
"I'm.. with him"
"Who!"
"..bucky.."
She gasps quietly but then louder than before  she yells
"You're with Bucky!! So it worked!"
She then screams and I move the phone away from my ear and look at bucky again
"Is your friend ok?"
He asks
"Can you hear her?"
I ask and he smiles
"Yes"
"Sorry.."

"Are you talking about me. To her?"
I slowly nod
"She helped me find you and she wanted to know where I am- she's big on safety"

He had a suspicious look on his face so then I clear my throat and say
"Do you wanna say hi?"
I asks and he shrugs so I walk back over to him, lean on the arm of the couch and put the phone on speaker
"Dahlia you're on speaker love. Say hi to Bucky"
"Hi Bucky. I'm dahlia, a friend of Dianes"
"Hello Dahlia. I am also a friend of Dianes"
He says and I chuckle
"well dahlia now that you've bursted an eardrum with your yelling I'm going to hang up"
"Buh bye!"
She says and I hang up
"That's Elizabeth's sisters kid"
I tell Bucky as I sit down
Buckys eyes widen
"Elizabeth- like the one who threw those parties and had that insane crush on Steve"
I nod
"Her sisters kid is as crazy as her"
Bucky smiles
