History of You and Me

Chapter 22

Bucky and I ended up going out

After our hug I had said
"I'm hungry"
I had said in a small voice wiping my tears
"Me too"
He chuckles
"I don't know if anything is open"
"Oh I know a place. Trust me"

So we walked to a nearby breakfast place. It was dead but the place was open for 24 hours so I bet it's like that always.

Bucky took my hand as we went in and sat across from each other at a booth by a wall and a front window
"Your hands are cold"
He points out
"I know"
I laugh

A waitress comes over and hands us slightly sticky menus
"Hi Im Suzy. I'll be your waitress for tonight. Could I start off with some drinks?"
She asks

Bucky says
"A water"
I breeze over the menu then spot what I want
"Hot chocolate please"
I tell with a smile
"Sure thing. And I'll bring yours with a water aswell"
She tells me and walks away

"Hot chocolate is a good call"
Bucky says and I nod

We both quickly look at the menu and find what we want
Then I start to tell him the start of the situation with Dahlia.He's fully intrigued in my story.

Then our waitress comes over with our drinks and takes our orders so I pause the story

I sip my hot chocolate then groan afterwards
"So good"
Bucky takes the cup and tastes it
"It is good. It'll warm you up"
I giggle then I reach across the table wiping off whip cream residue on his upper lip.
He chuckles
"Thanks"

I go on with my Dahlia story and at the end Bucky just shakes his head and sighs
"And you got her flowers"
He sits back and crosses his arms
"Wow. All of that over nothing"
"Yup"
I say and take a drink

Waitress Suzy gives us our food and we start to eat.
"So what's up with you"
I ask Bucky as I stuff a piece of waffle into my mouth and he shrugs
"Nothing really"

"Wanna try?"
He asks talking about his pancake and I nod
He takes my fork and loads it up with pancake and whip cream
"I have to get everything"
He says making me laugh

He reaches over the table and puts the fork into my mouth
"Mines better"
I say and Bucky rolls his eyes at me

Bucky looks at the placemats on the table
"There a  joke of the day"
"Read it"
I tell him taking a drink
So he does, it's not even a funny joke, but it makes me almost do a spit take from laughing with the way he read it

Bucky looks at me with wide eyes as I try to stop laughing so I can swallow
"It wasn't even that funny"
He says holding back a laugh
I manage to swallow and say
"But the way you read it!"
I shriek

I hide my face in my hands and Bucky laughs
"You two alright over here?"
The waitress comes over and asks

I sigh and Bucky says
"Perfectly fine"
With a big smile

She takes some of our empty dishes and walks off
"Your hands still cold?"
Bucky asks and I reach my hand across the table and he squeezes my hand
"Yup"
He takes his glove from the table and puts it on me
"Thank you but I don't need it"
I say taking it off
"I don't either. I only need this one"
He says holding his left arm up
I throw the glove at him and smile
"I'm finne"
"What ever you say"
He says with a sigh

We talk and laugh for about another hour. The waitress was definitely getting sick of us.

Bucky asked for the bill and the waitress quickly brought it to us.

Bucky and I pulled out our wallets
"I'll pay"
Bucky says
"Why. I ate too"
"You spent money on forgiveness flowers. I haven't spend any money today"
I sigh
"Fine. But next time I'm paying"
I lean back against the booth seat

He gives the waitress the money in bills and we get up to leave

It's a lot darker now. Id wondered how long we were in there. We had to walk but it was much colder and Bucky cold tell I was freezing.

"Ok hold on"
We pause and he pulls off his hoodie, almost taking off his shirt in the process too. He definitely did not use to have those abs.

He hands me his hoodie
"Won't you be cold?"
I ask even though I was already putting on the hoodie
"I'm actually warm. Too warm"
"Liar"
I tease fixing my hair

When we get back to the apartment he tries open the first doors to get into the complex but it was locked
"I hate when they lock it"
Bucky groans
But then there thankfully was someone walking  downstairs to let us in.

I walked Bucky up to his room, up the two flights of stairs and down the hallway.
We stood outside the door and he let out a breathe
"I had a lot of fun"
Bucky says
"Me too"

"You sure you don't wanna stay over? It's late."
He says mentioning something we were talking about earlier
"I'll be alright Buck"
He takes my hand
"You sure?"
"Yes. I've gotta go home."
I pull him into a hug and he hugs me tight.

We pull away but are inches away from each other. We've felt more close than usual the whole night but now it's like the whole world was put on pause. And it was just the two of us
We looked into each other's eyes for a second then he leaned in
To kiss me.
So I leaned in to

My heart thumped in my chest

Then I closed my eyes as our lips touched

"Excuse me"
An elderly woman's voice called out
Bucky and I pulled away from each other
I pressed myself against the wall as Bucky went over to the lady who stood by one of the doors down the hall.
