Chapter 10

Flashback to when Diane was 16 and the boys 17

Id never seen Bucky so heartbroken.
"She was so sweet"
He whines to me on his couch

A girl broke his heart. He was usually the heart breaker but a girl he had totally fallen head over heels with, dumped him.

"Bucky it's been a week."
I try to remind him but he goes on whining
"Leave me here to die I hate everything"

I sigh. He had been laying back on the couch so I stand up so I'm in his eyeline.
"James Bucky Barnes  get up right now and stop whining"
I demand but he doesn't listen.

We were staying in buckys house that week to keep him company. Me, Bucky, his sister, and Steve, all watching Bucky be a big baby over a girl

"Steve!"
I yell and he comes over
"He's being annoying"
I tell Steve

Steve sighs and walks over to Bucky
"Get up. She's moved on. You should too"
"She's moved on?!"
Bucky grabs a blanket and puts it over himself. I motion for Steve to leave.

I kneel beside the couch and take the blanket off his face. His face is red and wet from tears. He had been trying to whine and have a tantrum to cover up the fact he was actually hurting. 
"Oh Bucky"
I whisper
I grab a tissue and pat it on his face
"I swear to you. This girl is not worth your tears and your tantrums"

I put my hand on his cheek and caress his cheek with my thumb
"I'm a mess"
He laughs
"You're like a girl when you get broken up with. No one would ever expect tough Bucky to be so hurt over a breakup"
I lean into him and kiss his forehead

He sits up and sniffles
"Yeah I know"
He says with a small smile
"You're smiling!"
I say excitedly which makes him smile more

"How bout' we all go get ice cream or something"
I suggest and he nods
"You're feeling up to it to do it in like an hour?"
He nods again
"Ok"
I say softly standing up.
Then he grabs my hands still sitting down but then gets up still holding onto my hands

He then releases my hands and picks me up in his arms and off the floor, giving me a big bear hug making me laugh.
"You're the only girl who won't break my heart"
He says quietly
I nod
"Never in a million years"

He puts me down but giving me a normal hug. Before I let go of the hug he whispers in my ear
"I love you more than words can describe Di"
He says then walks upstairs

I collapsed onto the floor
I replay his words in my head.
I love you more than words can describe di
Those words echo in my head

I press my hand to my heating heart
"Dammit"
I mumble

I get up and look into the mirror by the front door. Trying to fix my hair and my makeup

Steve walks over, about to go upstairs but I stop him
"Bucky and I are going to get ice cream to cheer him up. Wanna come?"

Steve thinks
"I'll pass- I uh.. Buckys sister has some work- homework that needs to be done"
"Oh ok"
I innocently say

"Have fun though"
Steve says treading back up the stairs.

I continue to fix my hair in the mirror until Bucky comes down
"Hi"
He says with a smile
"Can we go now I don't want to wait any longer to go"
"Sure"
I say
I hold out my hand and take him outside

We walk down to a near ice cream shop and have a blast together.
