HK-47: The White Fang's Assassin

Chapter Thirty Five - The Siege Of Mantle

As the White Fang Empire prepared to attack the city of Mantle, Ruby's group worked with the Happy Huntresses to evacuate the city. The evacuations seemed to be going as planned as entire neighborhoods were cleared out. Ruby's group and the Happy Huntresses soon began leading the citizens of Mantle to the evacuation zone where dozens of airships were seen. 

Ruby: Do you think we have enough ships to evacuate everyone off Mantle?

Penny: Plenty, Ruby! We should have more than enough to evacuate everyone before the White Fang attacks!

Soon enough, the first transport ship was filled. Robyn gives the signal to the pilot to take off. As the airship takes to the sky, it was suddenly shot out of the sky, killing everyone on board. Before anyone could process this, the roar of several White Fang bombers were heard. 

Blake: No....

The sound of explosions were soon heard as the city's alarm systems began blaring across the city. Chaos soon gripped the city of Mantle as they began clamoring to the airships, hoping to escape the slaughter that was awaiting them. 

Robyn: Shit! They've already begun their attack!

Qrow: I hope you have a plan b! 

Robyn: As a matter of fact, I do! EVERYONE FOLLOW ME! WE'RE GOING TO THE CRATER!

As chaos grips the city of Mantle, White Fang transport ships began landing near the city. Several White Fang Legions were deployed. As the White Fang Legions began marching on the city, White Fang Droid walkers were deployed. A shuttle soon lands bear the city. Once it does, Adam Taurus and HK-47 walk out of the shuttle along with Samanya and the Sword of the Faunus. 

Adam: It's time we wiped this pathetic city off the face of Mantle. MOVE OUT! SHOW NO MERCY!

HK-47: Statement: This is going to be fun!

With that, Adam Taurus led the White Fang Empire in an all out attack on Mantle. As the bombers bombed the city, the city's remaining defenders readied their weapons to take a stand against the invaders. In a valiant stand, the Mantle defenders held the line. However, the sheer number and firepower of the White Fang Empire was too much for them as they were quickly overwhelmed. The defenders were forced to fall back, allowing the White Fang to swarm in the city. Meanwhile, Ruby's group and the Happy Huntresses continued to lead the people to the Crater. But as they did so, the bombing stopped.

Robyn: Why have they stopped?

Before that question could be answered, the sound heavy marching was heard as the ground began to shake. Soon enough, a White Fang Walker began firing on the crowd. Penny charged the Walker and attacks it with Floating Array. She unleashes a devastating attack on the Walker, stunning it. Penny then wraps the strings of Floating Array around the Walker's legs and brings it down. As the Walker was brought down, White Fang soldiers began swarming them. 

Qrow: Damn it! There's too many of them!

Penny: You all go on ahead! I will deal with them!

Ruby: No, Penny!

Penny: Do not worry about me, Ruby! I am quite durable. More durable than last time! You need to help get the people of Mantle to safety! 

As the White Fang soldiers and droids fired on Penny, she used her Floating Array to attack them. As more White Fang soldiers began to swarm the area, Ruby's group and the Happy Huntresses were forced to leave with the people of Mantle, leaving Penny behind. Penny fought the White Fang forces with everything she had. Soon enough, Adam Taurus and HK-47 along with Samanya and the Sword of the Faunus arrived. Adam gives the orders to stand down. 

HK-47: Diagnostic: There is something odd about this one. It looks like a meatbag, but it is actually a droid. 

Penny: I am not an it! I'm a person!

HK-47: Query: May I take care of this one, master? Perhaps this one can be reprogrammed. 

Adam: She's all yours, HK. The rest of you on me!

As Adam and the rest of the White Fang invasion force advances, Penny attempts to attack, but HK-47 fires on Penny. The shots halts Penny's advances, allowing Adam and his forces to continue. 

HK-47: Interjection: You're not going anywhere!

Penny: I'll have to dispatch you quickly if I'm going to help my friends!

HK-47: Query: You mean you actually enjoy the company of organic meatbags? How interesting and mortifying. 

In that moment, Penny began fighting HK-47. As HK-47 fired on Penny, Penny uses Floating Arrays to block the blaster shots. She then proceeds to attack HK-47 with the swords, doing a little bit of damage. HK-47 couldn't help butt be impressed with Penny. 

HK-47: Compliment: Your combat capabilities are most impressive. 

Penny: As much as I appreciate the compliment, I don't appreciate your violent tendencies. 

HK-47: Observation: I am a droid with programming. Even if I did not enjoy killing, I would have no choice. Thankfully, I enjoy it very much. 

Penny: Then you are no better than Taurus. It's time to shut you down. 

Penny then charges HK-47 and attacks him with Floating Array. Though HK-47 was pleasantly surprised by Penny's combat capabilities, the Assassin Droid still held his own while running multiple diagnostics on Penny to search for a weakness. Soon enough, he finds a weakness in the form of a vulnerability in Penny's programming. Seizing the opportunity, HK-47 initiates a hack on Penny. As Penny prepares to deal the final blow to HK-47, the hack HK-47 initiates stops Penny in her tracks. Penny begins to feel pain all across her body as her eyes flicker from their normal green color to red.  

Penny: What...what is happening to me?

HK-47:  Answer: I found a vulnerability within your programming. I am currently hacking your systems and reprogram you. 

Penny attempts to fight off HK-47's hacking attempt, but she is unable to. 

HK-47: Statement: Your combat capabilities will be put to better use with the termination of organic meatbags. 

As HK-47 says this, Penny could feel herself slipping away. She desperately attempts to fight off the reprogramming, but is helpless to stop it. Her final thoughts were of her father Pietro as well as her dear friend Ruby. Penny cried as she closed her eyes and the reprogramming erased all traces of Penny. After a moment of silence, Penny wakes up with red eyes. 

Penny: Declaration: Assassination Protocols active. Greetings, master.

In that moment, Penny Polendina was no more. Thanks to HK-47, Penny was now a faithful exterminator for the White Fang Empire. She would soon be unleashed as the White Fang Empire continued it's siege of Mantle.
