chapter thirty-two "i should be the one taking care of her"

"John b, what are we doing at the police station?"
currently, the pogues were pulling up right beside the police station in the green jeep the borrowed from kie's family. they weren't exactly sure of what they were doing there, they just followed john b's instructions. kie and jo were sat on the front sits while the three boys were in the back. outside it was dark.
everyone was shocked when john b explained what happened to the plane strip. they all knew rafe was kind of a freak but they never thought he could kill someone
"somebody's gotta tell them what happened" john b answered
pope started coughing badly because of the blunt that jj gave him "ohh. easy there, chief. damn"
kie and jo exchange a look of worry, for john b and for pope but jj was doing everything but help.
"all right" the blonde boy began to talk "i'm just gonna be real with you right now. you might end up in the lion's den, but you don't go there on purpose"
"jj"
jj didn't even look at his girl who tried to stop him from saying some bullshit "it's fundamental. just like my old man always told me, you should never ever trust cops, no matter what the circumstances is"
"your old man's an abusive liar" jo stated
"i agree with jj" pope stated, and it was almost weird hearing him agree with the crazy blonde boy "fuck the police"
"you goin' to the dark side now? i agree with jo. why should we believe what luke maybank says" kie made clear her side
"when's the last time the police ever helped us?" pope commented
"peterkin looked out for me, all right?" john b finally snapped "tried to, at least. they need to know" he looked at kie and jo who slightly nodded so he left the car and went to the police station.
jo saw the worry on kie's face and took her hand, making the brunette look at her "it's gonna be okay. we'll find a way out of this, we always do"
"i know" kie said trying to smile "but i got a really bad feeling"
"so do i"
the four stayed silence for a bit until they heard john b screaming "kie! start the car!"
"what? john b what did you do?" kie asked as the other began screaming at john b, asking him what happened. jo ignored her friends when she saw that kie wasn't starting the car so she turned the keys, placed her foot over kie's and started the damn car.
