After a while jj was free to go. he kept looking at his feet as he approached his father who was glaring at him
"you his guardian?"
"sorry to say, i'm his father" luke grumbled
"well, hearing will be in two weeks. if you fail to show up, you will forfeit your bail. the restitution will be based on the average of three outside estimates of the cost of the demaged article"
"restitution?"
"pay for what he broke. it's part of the plea"
luke glared at jj who refused to look at his father
"yeah, and...sign right here, please" luke did what he was told "let's go. go now!" luke yelled
jj didn't hesitate to walk out of the sheriff's station and make his way to his father's beat up van
"i wonder what restitution's gonna be on a 2019 malibu"
jj kept his hands into his pockets as he walked "i'll pay it off. all of it. i swear, dad"
"shit, 30k?" luke scoffed "when you gonna clear that, big guy, when all you do is smoke weed, hang out on the south side and fuck that bitch friend of yours?" jj's blood ran cold because he knew the 'bitch' was jo
jj didn't answer
"huh? get in the car" luke demanded
jj hesitated "let's go"
jj slowly entered the car without facing his father "dad, i swear-" jj was cut off by a fist on his face causing blood to splatter against the window
"thirty thousand dollars!" luke yelled as he kept beating his son "do you know what you did to me? damn-" luke screamed as he continued to bash jj's head against the car door.
jj gave up on fighting, letting his father's fist beat him waiting for the pain to finally go away.

"how are you gonna get that money back? huh?" luke yelled while the rock music filled the house "by sittin' around doin' nothing?" he kept yelling while jj gripped his head and paced back and forth "i'm gonna tell you right now, you are a worthless piece of shit!"
"shut up!" jj yelled throwing a fist against the door

jj slammed another fist against the door "shut up!"
"you tell me where you're gonna get 30 grand now!" luke kept yelling and jj throw the blanket on the floor trying to let the anger go away "get your ass in here!"
