After defeating Brock Ryu wasted no time in watching Gary's battle heading to the next gym. Though that didn't stop either Leaf or Gary from tagging along.
Ryu: You know we're still rivals right? Not really that fun if we travel.
Leaf: That doesn't correlate in any way shape or form. Plus, it's only until we get to the next town.
Gary: Not like I like being forced to go around with you two anyway.
Ryu: What? You feeling like your not very confident without your bunch of cheerleaders porcupine hair?
Fun Fact 4: When Ryu goes to annoy someone, he does it right.
Gary: AS IF!! AND YOU'RE ONE TO TALK ABOUT SPIKY HAIR!!
Ryu: Hey I actually jell mine down unlike you. It's nowhere near as bad as that mess up there.
Gary: Grrr.
Leaf: But anyway, before he get to the city, you feel like going for a little battle?
Ryu stopped dead in his tracks while Nidoran did as well.
Ryu: Ha, alright. I haven't battled you yet and Charmeleon still needs to get a grasp of his new power. Plus Nidoran's pretty uppity too.
Nidoran: Nidoran!
Ryu: You're on!
Leaf: That's what I like to hear. It'll be 2 on 2. You wanna join in the fun Gary?
Gary: Hm... I think I'll just sit and watch for now.
Ryu: Suit yourself. Alright, Charmeleon, lead the charge!
Ryu brought out Charmeleon as she let out a battle cry.
Ryu: Looks like you're pretty pumped too Charmeleon.
Charmeleon: CHAR!!
Leaf: Beedrill, I choose you!
She threw out Beedrill as the Pokémon buzzed.
Gary: Let the Battle Begin!
Ryu: Charmeleon, use Flamethrower!
Charmeleon let out a breath of flames at the bee Pokémon.
Leaf: Quick, dodge it!
Beedrill flew higher dodging the attack.
Leaf: Now, use Pin Missile!!
It shot multiple white pins at Charmeleon.
Ryu: Use Metal Claw to destroy them!!
Charmeleon's claws glowed white as it began to shatter then Pin Missiles.
Gary: All of them?!
Leaf: Alright then how about this?! Use Outrage!!
Beedrill's eyes glowed a burning red as it dashed in hitting Charmeleon doing heavy damage.
Ryu: Outrage?! Didn't think you'd have that up your sleeve! But your forgetting Beedrill will only focus on attacking now, which gives me an idea! Charmeleon, spin and use Flamethrower!
Charmeleon did just that with no question as when it used the fire move while spinning multiple lashes of flames came hitting Beedrill back.
Beedrill: BEEDRILL?!!
Leaf: The heck it that?!
Ryu: This was a little something I thought of when Charmeleon was still in it's beginning stage. Offense a defense together! Call it a counter shield!
