The group were on the road, nearing a forest where the Battle Tower was said to be located.
Ryu: Zoro, stop here for a bit.
Zoro: Sure, but why?
Ryu: For one, there's a lake nearby, and Marshtomp hasn't actually swam in a while. For two, probably not a good idea to wake up sleeping Pokémon nearby. Also Blade and Nova wanna come out too.
Gary: Walking it is then.
They all stepped out, and immediately Ryu's Starters popped out, along with Marshtomp.
Ryu: There's a whole lake for you buddy.
Marshtomp: MARSH!!!
The mud fish leaped up, before diving into the lake. Taking the opportunity presented, Nova spread her wings and flew into the air.
Gary: There she goes. Nova really does like having an open space.
Ryu: That and she hates being stuck in her Pokeball for more than 2 hours.
They began to walk again, as Ryu sensed multiple Pokémon nearby, stopping.
Ryu: Beedrill ahead.
Gary: What?
Immediately they heard the buzzing of an angry insect, with a Beedrill indeed coming out from a bush toward them angrily.
Ruby: Uh oh!
???: Beedrill, hold on!
They all heard a new voice. A girl with lavender hair wearing white jumped in front of Ryu.
Ryu: What the?
Beedrill began to buzz angrily, as the girl looked at the Pokémon.
???: Please, I can't understand you when you're so angry!
Zoro: 'Did she say understand?'
The Pokémon buzzed more, with both Ryu and seemingly the girl understanding the problem.
???: I see.
Ryu: Beedrill, we didn't mean any harm to your nest. The four of us are just passing by. You're safe, I promise.
Beedrill seemed to calm down, as in the bushes, another Beedrill and two Kakuna peaked their heads out.
Gary: Well what do you know?
Beedrill flew back, as Ryu and the girl looked at each other.
Ryu: Anyway now that THAT'S settled- YOU UNDERSTOOD THAT BEEDRILL?!!
???: I was gonna ask you the same thing!!! I've never met someone else able to communicate with them like me!!
Ruby: Is it me, or did this just both deescalate and escalate at the same time?
Zoro: Probably the yelling.
Blade: Nido?
Nova flew down to watch the scene as well. Once both of them were about to talk again, each teen felt something nearby.
Marshtomp: MAAAAARSH!!!!
Marshtomp jumped out of the water terrified, as behind it came a raging Gyrados.
Ryu: WOAH!!!
It roared as Marshtomp ran to Ryu.
Marshtomp: MARSH, MARSH MARSHTOMP!!!
Ryu: Marshtomp take a breath!!! Why'd Gyrados start chasing you?!
The water serpents tail was raised, as it was covered in water.
