Chapter 2: Vs Brock! The First Gym Battle!

After the raid had passed, Ryu had made his way to the Pokémon Center in the next town as he and Lorelei went their separate ways.

Ryu: Man, I really wanted to battle her but there's no way I'm powerful enough. Hell Charmander and Pidgeotto were still messed up from their battle.

Nidoran was patiently eating by Ryu's side as he scratched the top of his head.

From a distance Ryu could've sworn he heard a thunder clap raising an eyebrow.

Ryu: Ok that's the second time that happened. The rain isn't that bad.

Nidoran looked up confused.

Nidoran: Nido?

Ryu: Wait, did you just say Pikachu?

Nidoran nodded.

Ryu: Well looks like Ash might've been the cause of that. One powerful Pikachu though.

???: All done!

He looked to the side and saw Nurse Joy with Charmander and Pidgeotto.

Nurse Joy: Your Pokémon are all healed and ready to go!

Ryu: Thank you. By the way, call Professor Oak and tell him Ryu was here.

He recalled both Pokémon going outside.

Ryu: ... If that Thunder Shock was any indication of Pikachu's power, then I say we get a bit of training in. You up for it, Nidoran?

Nidoran: Nidoran!

Ryu: Thought so.

He kicked the tough of his sneakers on the ground before they turned into roller skates.

Ryu: Let's go!

He and Nidoran went away from Veridian as the went to a forest.

Ryu: Here should be good.

He let out Charmander and Pidgeotto.

Ryu: Alright boys-

He leaned down a rubbed Charmander's head.

Ryu: And lady.

Charmander: Char!

Ryu: We've gotta get some serious training in. Nidoran might be good as is but there's always room to improve! Charmander, Pidgeotto, you guys are about even, so I won't have to focus on bringing one of you to the others level.

Pidgeotto: Pidgeo!

Ryu: Yeah I know you guys don't know what I'm planning yet. We're gonna do the one thing that gamers always do before a boss fight. OVER FUCKING LEVEL!!!

Nidoran looked at Ryu.

Nidoran: -_- Nido.

Ryu: No I was not intentionally comparing you guys to video game characters that have to obey me.

He shrugged at this, or rather shook his head since he technically couldn't shrug. Now why the went to a forest some might ask? Simple.

Bug. Type. Pokémon.

Those kinds of Pokémon were pretty much everywhere as Ryu and his other Pokémon would think of it as a crime not to abuse the fact to train.

DAY 1!

First was Ryu and Charmander as the two were taking down Caterpie's left and right.

Ryu: Ok I can try explaining it a bit more. If you use Fire Fang and THEN smokescreen then we might be able to teach you how to use flamethrower.
