Chapter 21: Ash vs Ruby! Unpredictability vs Battle IQ

Ruby was out at the shop buying cookies and food for her Pokémon.

Ruby: 'Couldn't take it couldn't stand another minute. Couldn't bare another day without you in it.'

She was quietly singing in her head grabbing food with headphones on.

Ruby: 'Ash might be a strong Trainer, but if he doesn't expect a Pokémon like the one I'm bringing then it'll be too late.'

She turned around and began to walk before bumping into someone as they both fell.

Ruby: @_@ Ow.

???: Argh, I'm really sorry about that.

Ruby: It's fine just, gimme a sec.

They both got up as it was revealed the person Ruby.

Ruby: Ash?

Ash: Huh? Oh, Ruby!!

Pikachu hopped back onto Ash's shoulder waving.

Pikachu: Pikachu!

Ruby: Ha, hi Pikachu!

Ash: Sorry for bumping into you.

Ruby: Don't worry, I'm alright!

Ash: By the way, your battle with Gary was really impressive.

Ruby: Thanks, but I could say the same for your battles. You didn't lose a single Pokémon every time.

Ash: Yeah, but there's no way I'd be able to pull off hitting a Hyper Beam after my Pokémon is knocked out.

Ruby: Awww stop it.

Ash seemed to get a serious look.

Ash: But, that's not gonna stop me from trying my hardest to defeat you. Ryu made it to the finals. He's waiting for one of us. And I'm gonna be the one to take him down.

Ruby smirked looking at Ash.

Ruby: Sorry, but that's not gonna happen. Cause I'm gonna be the one who does it.

Ash smiled before holding a hand out.

Ash: Then let's both promise to do our best.

Ruby took Ash's hand smiling back.

Ruby: Promise.

TIME SKIP!!

Ryu was sitting in the front row along with Lorelei Brock Misty Gary Leaf and Erika.

Erika: So guys, who do you think is gonna win?

Misty: I don't know.

Lorelei: Ash is very crafty Trainer, and he has a lot of power to back it up. However Ruby is much more on the smart side and also has powerful Pokémon Ash has likely never dealt with.

Gary: So are you saying it's even?

Lorelei: From my standpoint, yes.

Brock: So I guess it depends on who can outwit who possibly.

Ryu: Hm...

Leaf: What's up Ryu?

Ryu: Argh, no matter how hard I try I can't choose who I want to battle more.

Gary: What?

Ryu: On one hand Ash and I have have had a single battle one on one, and I want a chance to battle him with a full team, but on the other hand, Ruby is just such an amazing Trainer, and I may not get many chances to battle her. ARGH THAT'S SO ANNOYING!!!

He ruffled his hair.

Erika: Only you Ryu.

Announcer: Here we have it folks!! This will be the second to last Pokémon Battle here in the Indigo League!! THE TWO TRAINERS HERE SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO FIGHT IN THE FINALS AND THEN POSSIBLY THE CHAMPION LEAGUE!!!
