In Pallet Town Ryu was in front of Professor Oak.
Oak: So Ryu, you've decided who you want to be on your team for the final battle?
Ryu: Yeah. No matter how I look at it, these are the Pokémon I want to take into battle here.
He looked back at Moltres and Mewtwo.
Ryu: Sorry guys, but you're gonna have to be benched for this one.
Mewtwo: I understand. Do your best.
Moltres let out a screech.
Ryu: Thanks, I will.
He looked towards Gale Boomie Electabuzz Fafnir Nova and Blade.
Ryu: Let's win this!
All of his Pokémon cheered each saying "YEAH". Of course in their species language.
Oak: 'Who would've though he'd make it this far on his first attempt. Ryu has come a long way. Hard to believe it's barely been 6 Months since their journey began.'
Oak had thought back to the time where Ryu Ash Gary and Leaf were just children under his wing. A tear threatened to fall from his eye as he smiled with pride.
TIME SKIP!!
Ryu was walking to the stadium as the press swarmed him. Before that he was asked to sign many autographs which annoyed him incredibly but he agreed to. Soon enough he was at the limit of his patience as a vein was on his head.
Ryu: You know if you wanna ask questions I'd appreciate it if you-!!!
???: ASK AFTER THE BATTLE!!!
Amongst the swarm Ryu saw Ruby as she looked back.
Ruby: O_O
Ryu: O_O
Ruby: Hi Ryu.
Ryu: Yo.
Seconds later the Officer Jenny's jumped in.
Jenny1: Alright give these two some room!!
Jenny2: The fans won't be happy if the battle between the Finalist isn't the best it could be because they couldn't focus!!
Soon enough the two were able to escape the crowd.
Ryu: Thank fucking God for crowd control.
Ruby: Yeah.
Ryu: I'll be honest I didn't expect us to meet in the finals. But that just makes the wait worth it.
Ruby: I couldn't agree more! So, what do you plan to do after this? The Champions League?
Ryu: Hell no. I'd get creamed for sure. I'm gonna challenge the Battle Frontier first.
Ruby: The Battle Frontier?!!
Stars lit in Ruby's eyes as she looked at Ryu.
Ruby: They're some of the strongest Trainers in Kanto after the Elite Four and Champion!!
Ryu: Yup.
Ruby: After I tried the Johto League I was thinking about coming to meet them!
Ryu: Wait, you've competed in Johto?!
Ruby: Oh yeah, but I only got to the Quarter Finals there.
She sheepishly rubbed the back of her head.
Ryu: Who beat you?
Ruby: Aha, the friend I was talking about. He ended up washing through the competition after beating me with 2 Pokémon left.
