Amity pov-
It had only been a couple weeks since Luz left, but she was still on my mind 24/7. Maybe I could just visit her for a bit, you know just to check in. I reached for the key around my neck, looking at it's gold edges. No Luz needed to do this on her own, besides what if she didn't tell her mom about us yet, I don't want to make her uncomfortable. I mean I haven't told my parents yet, god that's gonna be awful. Plus even if I did want to visit, how was I gonna build a portal?

As I started the walk back from school I wanted to make a quick stop by the Grom tree. It was where we set up the portal, the last place I saw Luz.

Why was I thinking like this? Luz just went to see her mom. She's not gone, she's just away from a bit that's all. She was going to come back, she promised. She promised me. She's not gone.

I sat down in soft grass. I continued staring at the key, Luz had one exactly like it containing a small bit of titan's blood.

The human realm, I wonder what it's like. I know there's no natural magic there, and apparently the rain is just wet and won't melt your skin off. Seems weird, but Luz says it's true.

I wonder what Luz was doing, was she thinking about the Boiling Isles, did she miss it, does she miss me?

I sat there for a while longer until I noticed it was getting dark. I wasn't in a huge rush to get home so I think I'll make one more stop. The Owl House.

The Owl House honesty grew on me over time. I kind of hate to admit though. "Hoot, hoot are you just gonna stare at me or are you gonna come in , hoot" Hooty yelled as I stood in the doorway. God that bird was annoying. Seconds later the door opened revealing the warmly lit living room. "Ah Boots, I knew you would be back soon" Eda said, taking a sip of some apple blood.

"Sorry for barging but I guess I just wanted to... umm I actually don't know exactly why I'm here." I admitted dropping my shoulders. "You miss Luz, ya I do too. That kid really grew on me. Anyway King's also a wreck, maybe you could talk to him, he's up in Luz's room." Eda said, flopping down on the couch.

I set down my bag at the door and slowly climbed the stairs leading to Luz's room. "Hey King, can I come in?" I asked, opening the door. "Ya sure." King replied sadly. "You miss Luz too huh?"

"Of course I do!" He whined.

I went over to the bed and sat down next to him, staring at the floor. "Here I know of something that you might like." I said getting up off the bed, and going over to the closet. I pulled out a purple shoe box that Luz had customized. I walked back over to King lifting the lid and revealing probably hundreds of photos Luz had taken in the Boiling Isles over the past year. I started to sift through them until I came to some of Luz and King, and handed them to the small demon. King took the pictures and scanned them carefully.

"You're alright cotton candy haired goddess, or whatever Luz calls you" King said carefully placing the photos back in the box. "Thanks, King of Demons."

As I put the box back in the closet I noticed the pile of notebooks in the corner. They were the books we used to build a portal, I bet I could use them to start building another portal, then I could visit Luz!

As the weeks continued to go by, I made it a habit of a consistent routine of visiting the owl house.

Every morning before school I left early so I could check on the portal I was slowly constructing, and again in the afternoon before going to the owl house. Most days I would even just go to the owl house to study, not just to read the notes on portals. I would also visit Eda and King, even Raine sometimes. They had been hanging around more and more.

It had now been about three months after Luz had left, I tried to spend as little time at home as possible. My parents were always questioning me when they got the chance.
