Chapter 16: Back On Track

It was a peaceful morning in the camp. The dew dripping off leaves, the cold breeze blowing in the air...

Voxle comes out of the tent, stretching his limbs and admires the morning view. They were in a forest, not too far from the town but not too close to be seen in the open.

Voxle: "We have a long day ahead of us."

Voxle sits down at the same tree he was sitting on yesterday. The view was prettier than it was last night, he could now clearly see the nature of the forest.

Voxle: "Hey, BETA. What do you think we should do after all this is done? After I finish my last task as a bounty hunter. What should I do?"

BETA: "I don't know, Voxle. The choice is all up to you."

Voxle: "You think it'd be okay if we went back here... After stopping Xero?"

BETA: "I think so. You seem to be in a good mood today."

Voxle: "Yeah I do. All of this feels... New to me and yet I've been doing these kinds of stuff ever since I started working as a bounty hunter. Maybe it's because this is the last task... We've come so far huh?"

BETA: "We have, Voxle."

Voxle: "Alright, time to wake up the rest."

Voxle stands up from his place and dusts off the dirt on his legs. He looks back at the camp and comes back ready to wake up the others.

-Null POV-

After a night of running away from those people. I decided to rest hidden behind the trees. I looked back and saw a few helicopters pass by, luckily they didn't see me. I scanned my surroundings and everything seems to be safe, nobody around. Just nothing. I leaned on the tree with one foot on the ground and the other against the tree.

Null: "I should call Xero."

I made a call but before I did I checked again, same result. No one close enough to hear us and nothing can intercept the call.

Xero [Call]: "Who is this?"

Null: "It's me."

Xero [C]: "Oh, You're the nameless primagen right?"

Null: "I go by Null now."

Xero [C]: "You named yourself? That's neat. Anyways, How's it going?"

Null: "Progress made but I came across a little... Setback."

Xero [C]: "Did anyone saw you?"

Null: "Yes... But I doubt that they'll spread word just like that. They seem to be a secret organisation disguised as this planet's government."

Xero [C]: "Alright but don't get caught again. It's too risky they might even use my own tech against me."

Null: "Understood. By the way, do we have a tracker on Voxle?"

Xero [C]: "Let me check..."

Xero [C]: "None. But I do have a tracker on the escape pod."
