Y/n was laying on a couch. it was comfortable, warm, and soft.

a pillow lay underneath her head, and a gentle hand was touching her side.

"is this alright?" Artem breathed quietly.

she whinced when his fingertips gently pressed on her ribs.

"hurts..." she mumbled.

he sighed nodded. she wore his coat, but she was still shivering. her mind was trying to wrap around everything that had just happened.

once the men had left, the baseball bat went clattering out of Artems hands and he quickly scooped Y/n up. he took her too his car as she cried into his shoulder. he wrapped his coat around her and set her in his passenger seat.

"what happened?" he asked.

y/n shook her head.

"i don't k-know they just came out of n-nowhere. i don't know how they even got in!!" she squeaked.

Artems grip on his wheel was tight. his expression was serious.

"w-what are you doing here?" she asked.

"i texted you, i asked if i could come pick you up from your shift, there was a restaurant i wanted to go to. i didn't get a response so i thought i might come anyways." Artem replied.

they were silent the rest of the drive. that was how she had ended up here. in his house.

it was clean and neat, not a lot of decorations. there was a grey and marble kitchen, dark wood as the flooring and the living room had a dark grey couch, a white rug and TV stand.

"thank you." y/n said softly.

Artem rolled down her shirt. a blush on his face.

"its nothing." he muttered.

she closed her eyes and sniffled trying to block out the sound of the gunshots.

"are you hungry?" Artem asked.

she shook her head.

"when did you last eat?"

she wiped a tear from her face and glanced at the digital clock on the TV stand. it read 10:30.

"noonish." she said.

he sighed and nodded.

"ill be back."

he stood up and went into the kitchen. a million questions were circling in her head. why had they backed off? they had killed her other two coworkers without a second thought. Artem was one man, so why would they run away like that?

well, he is a popular lawyer. if they knew who he was they could be worried about getting caught. someone murdering him was bound to be found. but Y/ns murder would most likely remain unsolved.

she rubbed her eyes.

why had they wanted to do this? who had told them that she was a snitch? she hadn't heard anything about shipments, and if she had she would've made a point to forget about it. she wouldn't go to the police. snitching gets you killed.

she knew that better than anyone.

y/n sighed as she remembered her home. it was brief, but things like this happened to people all the time.

she thought leaving might make things better. but she was right back where she had start it seemed.

the only good thing is that he wouldn't find her.
